You need to go to the DMOZ Adult section first to search, then use the URL without www. in front so search for "cherryboys.com" - rightly there are restrictions on what the main DMOZ search engine will give as results.

As long as it takes for an editor or a surfer to find and report it. It is a manual check system. Potentially it could be listed for years. But then I have found porn sites in the main directory where a restaurant site was hijacked by a porn site so it is perfectly possible for any site to be bait and switch or hijacked. Every directory that relies on manual content reviews has the same problem. That said, the risk has got to be very low - child porn webmasters don't really want to bring themselves to the notice of the authorities. They are more likely to peddle their filth through those pedophile chat forums DMOZ and Wikipedia kindly listed for them.

Personally I'd be very happy to see the Adult section removed entirely

That said, I refuse absolutely to be tarred with the same brush. I cannot edit over there, just like they can't edit my cats. My work in no way supports them - DMOZ doesn't make money from my efforts, and doesn't pass that on to Adult editors (pays them no wages). I am about as guilty by association as somebody who lives in a city that has crime! So whilst I am shoulder to shoulder with everyone here over the Adult section issue, I can only hope you might feel it appropriate to stop seeing the existence of the Adult section as 'evidence' of widespread corruption or the evil nature of DMOZ editors like me.

A few more first-class DMOZ listings:

MorbidVisions.com - Collection of autopsy, murder, crime scene, disease, and wound photographs. Some dead child photographs. This site actually has pictures of some freak mutilating corspes (not for anyone with weak stomach) and then having sex with them. (Adult: Death and Gore)

Pablo & Mija's Treehouse - Pablo Stubbs and Mija archive of their adult and child (school and parental) spanking fiction as well as real life accounts. (Adult: Arts: Online Writing: Fiction: BDSM: Spanking: Free)

Pedaloog - Advocacy of adult-child sexual relationships. Authors attempt to dispel common misconceptions about pedophiles. (Adult: Society: Sexuality: Activities and Practices: Pedophilia: Affirmative Views)

the obvious answer to your question BlogMaster, and the one everyone is looking for of course, is two-fold
    a) people and editors that are adult site webmasters
    b) people and editors that are visitors to adult sites

reason a) is clearly not one to hold in high regard. as for b, as a young male (presumably the principal demographic of adult site visitors?) myself, with many young male friends, who see nothing wrong with mainstream pornography, having a listing of quality links to free image galeries is a legitimate and reasonable desire for the existence of an Adult category. Just not the cesspit we currently have instead.

Unfortunately, I believe that by and large the nature of adult sites, adult site webmasters and the sums of money involved in the adult industry means that it is probably too hard to prevent (a) from overriding the desires of (b) and causing an Adult section to turn into a cesspool. This is why earlier I said I was in favour of DMOZ not having an Adult section at all - even if we wiped every site in there at the moment and started anew.

I also feel (but have no way of knowing) that most DMOZ editors agree with this position, and that this includes the ones running the show. I very much doubt self-interested Adult editors are in a position to protect it against this, and that it is just the inertia that comes with being such a large and advanced organisation holding back the executioner's hand. Perhaps you would like to spend 5 minutes writing to AOL, rather than spending much longer in this thread venting?

Well that was funny but it wasn't what I meant. I was just referring to your previous posting and the dog and pony show about DMOZ secret control methods which was far from the truth as you are well aware. The problem with people who like to work in secretive environment is that after awhile they believe so much in their secrecy that they just assume no one is aware about what is happening and usually that is a false assumption.

But I am positive person now and in a million year I would not imagine that you were trying to pull a fast one, so love and hug, bro. :D :D :D

I think one of DMOZ editors mentioned that you must have 20 images for DMOZ to list it, so it won't work unless everyone else joins in. We can even send an invitation to Hutcheson and jimnoble to join us for the group hug.

It is OK with me if Anthony and minstrel agree to it too.

Be positive guys, let's give a big group hug to DMOZ editors.

This is new me with extra positive attitude, love and hug to all editors. :D :D :D

Adult webmasters are not paid by DMOZ. They profit by association, and it is QUITE an association, as is evident by this thread. By being part of an organization that tolerates pornography (and worse), you are helping in the continuance of such behavior. This does not mean you have bad intentions, but it does mean that you are a supported of an organization that promotes the behavior. I think a better example would be like the manager of a restaurant that is a front for the mob.

Regardless of how you feel about the "guilty by association", I must ask:
Being an official DMOZ editor, what are you doing about the problem?

All it would take is for a bunch of these editors that are decent and moral to step up and say, "Hey, I can't be a part of something that promotes child abuse, rape, beastiality, recreational drug use, etc...so I'm leaving." DMOZ is already short-handed on editors. I bet this would get some attention and something would get done about that ADULT category.

no, they shit in cute little boxes and ship them off to indonesia where the children there reshape them into small bean shapes, and sell them to africa which then sell them back to us as coffee.

my mom taught me this. she also smokes a lot of crack.
