If you are using wordpress , its a very good idea to change your permalinks, page title echo, and make sure to add Stephen Spencers seo page title mod and also add meta tags plus.

That alone can increase your search engine visiblity 10 fold.

Always add unique and fresh content in your blog or website, it will boost your search ranking without building back links if keyword is least competitive.

 

SEO TIP #4

When it comes to off site, there are many techniques, but very little assurance about their importance, one should attack all fronts.
(exchange links, buy links, directories, blog posts, content freshness, article submission and forum sigs.

 

A better plugin is All-In-One-SEO pack

 

For WordPress, the SEO pack mentioned above is killer.

I would also suggest the Google XML Sitemap plugin for WordPress.

For standard optimization - give people the information they need to link to you and a reason to link. Add a "Link to Us" page and give them the code and text you want them to use (make it random for even better results).

 

Random Tip:

Don't be dumb. Do your research.

Make sure you're not doing anything that will hurt your site in the long run.

 

If you're not using these - use them -
crazyegg, hittail, google's adword preview tool (even if you're not an adwords user - use it to see serps in different countries)

1. Spend a lot of time on keyword research & have a good tracking in place.
2. Unique content - This always rocks Google.
3. Link Bait - If u are good at it to get some nice links pointing to your site.

 

Do not run after competitive keywords. Always do research.
Make Keywords BOLD, STRONG, Underlined, Italics.
Optimize image.
H1: Main keyword
H2: Secondary Keyword
Avoid using side bar navigations.
Avoid stuffing.
etc

 

Site structure and page topics are important - don't optimise sites, optimise pages

Your site structure should look like this

Index Page -----> Main 2/3 keywords (example gadgets, electronics)
Category 1 -----> Category keyword 1 (example MP3 players)
Sub-Category 1 -> Sub-cat keyword 1 (example IPod Touch)
Sub-category 2 -> Sub-cat keyword 2 (example IPod Nano)
Sub-category 3 -> Sub-cat keyword 3 (example Microsoft Zune)


Category 2 -----> Category keyword 2 (example Plasma TVs)
Sub-category 1 -> Sub-cat keyword 1 (example Sony Plasma TV)

Category 3 -----> Category keyword 3 (example DVD Players)
