National domains: good/bad idea?

    Hi there,

Let's assume that you pick a VERY hard-to-compete niche, where most of .com, .net, .org domain names are taken. It is hard to even find a 3-word domain for this niche.

But, you can buy a two-word national domain name that contains a very good 2 keyword phrase. Keyword Discovery shows ~75.000 searches for it.

For example a .nz or .nl domain.

What do you think? Is it a good idea?

Most of the visitors will be 'one-time' visits from people that came across the site in Search Engines.
Some might remember the URL and come back later, but mostly unique visits.

If what Mr. Dell (CEO of Dell) said 3 weeks ago " 500,000 log on the Internet every day for the first time in their lives" it true, then I dont see any problem holding on to International extensions.

Have you tried .in or maybe .cc or .ws? These are a little more recognizable cctlds in business. Unless of course you are from one of those countries or marketing to them. Good luck!
