OK, well I haven't left for good, but I have been a silent reader on DigitalPoint for some time and I figure it's time to escape the rath of Aspen. Anyway, I guess I will open with something I posted on Sitepoint a few days ago.
My guess is it's probably just a new page (since last update). Will know for sure when Google updates PR/back links (which should be soon). Re: Aspen, always seemed like a good guy to me, but glad to have ya... - Shawn
There are quite a few new pages in the help area that don't have PR yet. I brought up a sneak peak I had found a while back: http://www.jrwrestling.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78
Schlottke, You are in violation of a trademark and copyright infrigement in your use of Zoolanders official title. Please cease and desist use of this trademark as Zoo is the sole owner of this title. You and Google are guilty of redirection of traffic using someone else's trademark, so please, unless you want litigation return the trademark to Mr. Zoolander.
that is kind of interesting actually. I always thought it was odd that the different googles (google.ca, etc) all didn't have PR10's.
Nothing google does needs pagerank - imagine that - building a new site with no concern for pagerank or seo... Dream on!
I do not blame you for wanting to get away from "ASPEN" he has ruined SITEPOINT by his censorship of the forum. "ASPEN" is a certified GOOGLE SPY. This guy censored two (2) threads on Google (sorry the number of running threads removed is much larger then 2, he removed 2 threads just yesterday, is what I should have said) he is a propaganda agent for Google, I can post many pages of his silly propaganda if members are interested. The forum at SITEPOINT has NO editorial integrity and blocks free flow of information to industry professionals and free exchange of ideas and NEWS that affect industry professionals. One thing that "ASPEN" will never censor but will always promote with ZEAL is Good publicity for Google. This is why "ASPEN" is the "ORIGINAL MEMBER OF THE GOOGLE SPY HALL OF FAME" http://www.searchwars.squarespace.com/display/ShowPage?moduleId=19806 This guy should be banned from SITEPOINT as a team leader and moderator since he really is a agent for LARRY PAGE, I have asked him many times the following question. ASPEN, DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL WITH LARRY PAGE? ASPEN refuses to answer this question. If anyone has information about this please submit it here so we can get to the bottom of why he censors threads, removes threads at SITEPOINT and always promotes Google lies and spyware selling out the folks he is supposed to be helping. Again ASPEN, since Larry Page is from Michigan and you are also, Do you have a personal relationship, or did you go to school with Larry Page, ASPEN can you answer this question? It would help you gain some credibility if you could answer it.
Where else does Google promote other sites? This might be on purpose. If Google recommended a site like this their PageRank would shoot up and alter their search results.
With the way that WebMasterWorld and Sitepoint are acting, DigitalPoint might be the only forum where you can discuss things freely.
Yes Schlottke, Slashdot, WebmasterWorld, Sitepoint are all forums filled to the brim with Google Propaganda (PR) agents. Take my word for it, or simply see my prior post and click on the link, you will see more links to Google Propaganda by this Google Spy. It is too bad that when members of a "so called open forum" in the "so called land of FREE SPEECH" (is Google going to decide what you read in the future, only if YOU LET THEM) are censored by moderators that run from Google with their tails between their legs. Very Sad, maybe they think that Larry and Sergey will give them higher rankings in the "SO CALLED NOT MINIPULATED BY HAND" Google search results if these "AGENTS OF GOOGLE" exterminate certain threads and comments on threads. I will tell you that GOOGLE GUY is not the only propaganda agent Google has on the forum circuit. Believe what you want to believe.
A search engine integrated into the operating system will be nothing more than a novelty. Apple has done it for years with Sherlock, and I don't know anyone that actually uses the Internet search part of it. The dictionary/thesaurus and translation options are all that I use personally.
How did we go from the FORUM WARS, to the OS WAR? When you do not need a browser any longer (LONGHORN) Google will be under pressure as will all of the small engines. I think folks will still use them, but if M$ makes a deal to integrate YAHOO and MSN in the internal OS then you can kiss Google goodbuy. Looks like Digital Point will do well in the forum wars, since so many are RUNNING away from some of the others for not letting members speak their minds, some seem to engage in MIND CONTROL. If you think the search engine wars and the OS wars are bad, wait until the WEBMASTERFORUMWARS really break out. I think that is happening right now.
No I don't work for Google. No I didn't go to school with Larry Page. I'm sorry I never answered you but it seemed like such a ridiculous question I thought it was rhetorical. Like if someone asks "Were you born in a barn?" its an insult, not really a question, they're not looking for an answer. At Sitepoint we have rules against self promotion. You're not allowed to link to your own websites or businesses outside of your signature. Your posts were removed not because we censor anti-Google threads, your first threads there were not removed afterall and they were very anti-google. Rather they were removed because you were linking to your own site to start the threads. You basically said "Read this article on my site (link) and respond." We don't allow things like that. The reason your posts were not immediately removed is because I was on vacation in Africa and the other moderators aren't as active as me and so they fell through the cracks. When I got back and saw your posts I removed them. Now, Rocky. If you want to leave SitePoint thats your decision but if you make a public display of it (this thread) I feel obligated to defend myself and SitePoint. I've been doing this for years. I've heard every wild theory dozens of times and they tend to make rounds on forums and they recur every once in awhile. So when you come and post about the theory du jour like it is fact I'm going to have to dispute it, and I will very thoroughly and very objectively (or coldly) dispute it. Its not because I'm being harsh, or I'm purposely spending an hour writing a response to make you look stupid. Its because I've done it so many times. After responding to the same type of post repeatedly you get quite good at it. Its like in the SE world there are people at the front, and those playing catchup. As you play catchup you learn things we all learned years ago. Someone might just learn that Google uses anchor text and they get all excited and wild ideas pop into their head and to the rest of us its old news. This is of course true in any industry but in this industry there is no programmers reference to refer to, so people doubt each other. So when you would make a thread about some idea and it would be shot down quickly its not a reflection on you, its just that we had all heard that idea before, we had discussed it, we had tested it, and we had found it to be false.
Aspen you can talk until you are blue in the face about me self promoting, but lets talk about your signature at Sitepoint, can you give us the total of sites that you are promoting from your signature? By my count it was 20+, so many you had to number them, you can also deny until you are blue in the face that you do not censor or defend Google on your forum, that is a bold faced lie. You used self promotion as an excuse to remove complete threads without warning, you have problems as Sitepoint does. Coming here and giving half hearted responses can not repair the damage that your own actions caused. Can you explain you starting the Anti-Anti-Google site, then tell us that you are not representing Google on the forums. Give me a break, don't mislead folks Aspen. Can you explain why the subject matter that I was discussing on Sitepoint is in the industry news, in fact making the Headlines in this industry? Then can you justify the censorship of these important threads that were discussing these issues before they became mainstream issues in major industry media such as Search Engine Watch? Please explain all of this to us.
Aspen, good post. Many of the old-timers on the various forums answer the same questions or respond to reinvigorated theories time-after-time. That is the primary reason for the Newbie sections on most forums. People should search subject matter, read and learn before they start asking questions if they do not want to be almost dismissed by some of the more direct members. Luckily there are also very kind hearted members who still take the time to tell people that 1+1 = 2.
Actually when it comes down to it, SitePoint is the best forum of it's kind out there... at least in my opinion (and I even moderate some other "big" SEO forums). As far as Aspen's signature and how he moderates. It doesn't really matter because everything is within the rules that SitePoint has pre-defined. So it has nothing to do with bias. He does a good job at enforcing rules that SitePoint has (that's what moderators are for). Whether or not you agree with their rules, that's a completely different issue. We have rules here as well. Some might not agree with them either. But they are also enforced across the board.
Sitepoint allows promotion in signatures, They are limited to 4 lines of 65 characters each. We do not allow solicitations or advertisements in posts. This rule applies all members equally, including me. I have never once linked to websitepublisher.net in any post on Sitepoint. Rarely a day goes by that someone doesn't ask a question I could answer with a link to an article I wrote. Yet I do not do it because it is against the rules. Why did I start Google Watch Watch? Bill Machrone wrote a support piece for Daniel Brandt in PC Magazine. Danny Sullivan criticized it in his newsletter. I wrote to Danny, agreeing with him, and we had a short email conversation that basically amounted to how to the media had been taking Daniel Brandt at his word without doing any research. This annoyed both of us and I had the idea to make Google-Watch-Watch. I thought it'd be easy to make, it'd be somewhat funny, and it would be something good I could contribute to the Internet. As far as your topics being important and whatnot, well, that is your opinion. Obviously it isn't shared by everyone. You've been banned at just about every SEO forum on the Internet last I checked. I was infact contacted by two different moderators from other SEO forums when you started posting on SitePoint, warning me about your trolling behavior. The negative response you recieve at most places is not a coincidence. Most people do not share your views. I'll just give you a quick reponse to all the allegations I can recall you posting. 1. Google is conspiring to send more traffic to adsense sites to make more money. Google's founders need to but take the company public and they become billionaires, they have waited years to do this. They do not sound greedy to me. The FTC also has rules about clearly marking paid search results, which Google has always done (and in fact lead the way in doing it when places like Yahoo and MSN weren't). Google doesn't need to do anything sneaky to make money. 2. Google is going to spy on you with Gmail. Gmail is free, Gmail is optional. If you don't like it, use Hotmail, Yahoo, your ISP's email service, or setup your own email like most webmasters do. 3. Google spys on you with the toolbar. The toolbar is optional, you don't have to use it, and when installing it you have to specifically request the advanced features. By default they are not installed. Those are all I recall. You want to know my opinion on your issues, thats it.
