I don't know? The original owners will find it faster and complain that you took their content. You will need to ask the owners permission first before you do this.
Copying copyrighted content without permission is illegal, even if you do credit the site. Crediting the site does not make it legal.
True. It's a common misconception that you are, for example, allowed to syndicate some RSS feed as long as you credit the author. It's content theft if you do it without permission.
you are allowed to copy first and second , maybe third too paragraph ( lines ) , read the law and after you must put a link like "Read more" and links to the original page . If the owner of the site let's you to copy his content with linkback , then I guess it's OK ! Oh , and if you copy without permission and the site has a gurantee ( a contract with a company that protects content ) you could get to JAIL !
The owners can file complaints with google or yahoo to have the content removed and complain to your hosting company.
^^^yes but first they need to prove the content is really theirs, and if you change 30% or so % they just can't do anything.
Well, from my own point of view, you can actually copy content from anyone as long as you give the proper recognition through a proper reference to the original content. But marketing the content is different from plain copying and giving the credit to the original owner or source. This could have you penalized if the original owner finds out. Why not try a re-write job on the article to make it more of an original content? Make sure that it is totally unique but has the same meaning overall.
can u put a disclaimer on your site saying "if any copyrighted laws are violated, it was unintentional." - can that save you? I have something like that on my site since I'm running a fansite where most images are obtained through public domain..
Of course not. It is still a copyright violation. You cannot disclaimer your way out of something that is intentional. That has nothing to do with the copyright law itself. Companies that help protect content merely monitor content and help enforce laws that are already in place. It is amazing that we have so many people at DP that are apparently violating copyrights that protect the hard work of others.
it's unintentional - because you don't know it was copyrighted. so i said "if any copyrighted laws are violated, it was unintentional."
For me, i think that there is no problems if you put the auther name and a backlink to the original source.
^agree. and incase you dunno who the real owner of that content/image, it's better to put some note about it, like if your the owner of this 'blah blah blah' and you want us to remove this or give you credit please send us an email. - i think on that way, whoever the owner of that content won't be mad at you (IMHO)
