Like the title says, i don't think anyone is searching on yahoo or msn besides the few search's I do. Why do I say this? I have a PPC advertisment for one of my sites that I have to turn off in Google Adwords every other hour because it get's around 65 visitors every 4 minutes. I have a paid advertisment in Overture that's in a higher position that has only gotten 3 clicks in the past week! What are the statistics? No one's searching Yahoo and Msn obviously.
MSN and Yahoo! still hold quite a bit of the market share for searching. Many people are dedicated followers of those engines and believe they have better/different search methods behind their SERPs. I disagree; People mostly use Google, MSN, and Yahoo!, yes, but people haven't stopped using them. If people stopped using them, they wouldn't be in business anymore, would they?
OK, let me say in a different way. I know for 1,000 facts that people aren't clicking on Overture's adds like they are google's. I've been making anywhere between $100 and $200 daily on google and nothing so far on yahoo and msn that I've been able to tell.
Not me man, same titles and a better position in Overture. I was paying $1.30 a click and didn't get one click from them. I was in about 8th in Google and got 65 visitors every 4 to 5 minutes. Let me say that this is just the stats for the past couple weeks so maybe something's changed, I don't know, but I do know that^.
Are you saying searching or clicking on your ads here I mean you can search on any of these engines right now and so can everyone else.... http://www.searchenginesinternational.com/wst_page2.html I know I use a lot of different engines all the time and they do work...
I can't speak to the ads as I only use Adwords because I hate Overture so much . I can say that I get quite a bit of traffic from MSN. I am ranked very well in MSN for several very competitive keywords (fluxuate from #5 to #1) and for many not so competitive keywords. I am not as well ranked in Yahoo but I do have a #1 ranking for a very competitive keyword and I get practically no hits from it. So I would have to say Yahoo seems to be getting less and less but over the past 6 months I have noticed an increase in MSN and the past month seems like even more. I get about 65% from google, 30% from MSN and about 5% from Yahoo (Organic that is). Now if I were ranked as good in Google as in MSN my server would crash from the traffic. So I would agree that Yahoo seems useless but MSN seems to be gaining some ground but Google is still king. I LOVE MSN..so easy to get ranked...probably take me another year to even come close to those rankings in Google.
I havn't had much success with them at all really. Yes I've tried puting the adds in different positions and have a couple different titles (that's all overture alows anyways, what they think is relevant). Honestly it sounds rediculous I know, but the only 3 clicks I got from Overture were when my add was in 5th position vs. 1st. I don't know, but I still have the adds running but paying less for a lower spot because that's the only that's worked for me. Maybe I'll give it another try in awhile and see if it changes, but for now that's my stats.
Test, test and keep testing, that is all you can do to improve your results Maybe you should buy banners on a few forums in your target markets!
I agree, I do like MSN's natural results. One of my site's coming in on the first page for many different keywords. But there PPC's (Overture) advertisment's not good at all.
I'm gonna have to go work for someone if I spend any more money than I already am on advertising. That's actually something I really havn't done. Thanks for the advice.
Odd, I see quite a bit of traffic from MSN. Yahoo is pretty much a wash since the ban... Though I have a PR6 site that ranks number one for a keyword (over 10 million others) and does so consistently, but I still see more traffic from MSN and Google to that site. Either way, Yahoo ranks on the bottom end for me. I'd put it at Google, MSN, Yahoo...
@texisman I don't agree with you. One of the project i worked on gets a huge traffic from msn and it rock [when u consider sales] So no point of thinking poor about msn or yahoo As of my experience some sectors/theme get good traffic from some engines.
I agree with you. I guess It's just the PPC's aren't getting any. I think people look at them the same way I do and don't click on them.
MSN is the easiest to get on but the traffic you will recieve from first page ranking is very limited. Yahoo first page ranking will provide you with lots of clicks. Googles traffic however is just insane I could only hope that I will finally make it on google this time around.
This is my traffic from search engines so far this month, yahoo is leading for me Yahoo - 8674 Google - 7863 MSN Search - 1664
