    I was just checking the page rank of the top sites on the internet. Google gets a 10. What surprised me was yahoo and amazon were only at 9. Yahoo is listed #1 on alexa.com and google is 2nd. Even youtube.com is only at 8. I just thought it was funny that google is the only one with a perfect page rank.

    Is google.com the only site with a 10 page rank?

    According to whom? Nobody has a real system which measures popularity. I can easily buy a domain today, and by next week it'll be in the top 500,000 sites according to Alexa, and if I really try, top 100,000, easy.

    also (correct me if im wrong) doesn't pagerank have a lot to do with people linking to the site itself? thus statcounter is up there because everyone who has a statcounter code on their site links to statcounter!

    The amount of traffic a site receives has nothing to do with it's PageRank, and does not affect PageRank at all.

    That is why, what alexa ranking what site is, is irrelevant when discussing it's pagerank.

    Yeah , Pagerank is mostly ranked by the amount of QUALITY backlinks a site has. not by traffic

    Each search engines have their own scenario for indexing the site. According to google scenario yahoo will be in 9 th. But according to my experience google SE is the best

    Your telling me that yahoo doesn't have QUALITY backlinks? I highly doubt that. Your site must have high quality to be ranked number one with alexa month after month.

    My point is that page rank is manipulated. The number one site on the net should be ranked 10.

    You would not be number 1 in traffic if you do not have a quality site.

    Ding! we have a winner. Google is manipulating it for their benefit. If they are doing it with page rank then they might be doing it with search results.
