    Hi everyone,
As a newbie to link building, i went out there getting all sorts of links, most of which is not related to my website. I got to disocver later on through extensive reading that getting links related to my website is the best way to go about building links. Now i have these links on my website already, what should i do? can i delete these links and start generatting high quality related links to my site? what do you suggest i do?
please help with useful and practical advice. its very URGENT!

why would you want to delete them? if you think that they don’t befit you…they also will not harm you.

yes, i agree. anyway, i always maintain that the "relevance" thing you read about is a red herring, it's very hard to demarcate relevant from irrelevant. it's like judging beauty - it's in the eye of the beholder.

so don't worry and be happy :)

It would probably be best to delete them. The best way to delete them is to point them to one of my sites instead :)

I don't think you should bother with deleting then, UNLESS they're from "bad neighborhood" sites - AKA sites that are inappropriate, dangerous, or contain viruses, etc. Links from "bad neighborhood" sites will affect you negatively.

don't bother about deleting the existing links. its a lot of work and you cannot delete all of them anyways. rather invest the time in developing more quality backlinks

you can contact the owners of those web sites , if you want to delete your backlinks but having backlinks is allways better. why do you want to delete them?

A link is a link, it will either help you or will do nothing. By deleting these links you will be spending time that you could've been building links with and you will be harming your SERP's by removing the links that are useful.

Moving forward, get only relevant text links to your site. Don't worry about the links you already have, if your site is new, they probably helped get your site spidered, now start working on moving up in the SERPs with relevant linkage.

If you got link from bad neighbor hood links then you may suggest them though email otherwise other links will not hamper your site ranking and google penalized
