I have been playing with different videos trying to figure out what makes some show up in Youtubes search on the first page for certain keywords and then other videos I will put up for instance a video of an artist doing a cover song of Justin Timberlake and when you look at relative search I think it is it comes up other stuff and not justin timberlake and the video does not show up when you search justin timberlake. Here is the video I am still trying to figure out the whole youtube marketing and need some help on what I am doing wrong with the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8hCLfUIJl0
Wow, hacking YouTube... I hadn't thought of doing that, ... I make AMV's and post them on there, simply because the traffic I get to my web site from YouTube is well worth the effort, but I haven't thought much about trying to get their search engine to bring my AMV's to the top of any search. I know that it probably has very little to do with actual popularity of the videos, because the Talking Cats has an outrageous amount of view hits, and I've never seen it on the top of any list. I wonder if the Google Trends Hot Topic list might have some comparison to what hits the front page?
Yeah I don't know if i would call it "hacking" it is more SEO on youtube to get a video to show up higher and get more plays. Many people already are doing this and I have tried changing tags, title, etc with no avail
Not sure what you mean there, but the Talking Cats has 6,395,376 and some of my AMV's have 11k on YouTube and over 50k on Google Video, so Not sure what you mean by "so what". If a means and method can be found to increase interest on YouTube, it would be a nice add-on to a marketing campaign.
Yes...my question was a general question also tho. What do you have to do to be listed on the first page of youtube as I have seen other videos in high ranking categories that really have nothing to do with that category but it gets it thousands or even millions of views. What does it take ...titles?..keywords?...description?..
Good keywords in the title and description only identify the video when someone searches for it. The amount of comments and rating determines how far up on the result pages your video is displayed.
already the the youtube commenting and rating groups to band together... you rate and comment on 15 videos you get 15 ratings and comments.
Use a proper tag keyword that relates to your videos.. because most of the video scripts are based on tag keyword
I was looking around trying to find more options to get the video out and the majority of people are saying the best way to have it go viral and spread is just using the Digg button supplied when you hit share below a video. I think this would probably work better for a viral type of video then the music one we are promoting but feel free to digg it!! http://digg.com/music/Justin_Timberlake_Cover_What_Goes_Around_By_Michael_Lotten
Forget about trying to rank in YouTube its far easier to concentrate on other methods to get traffic to your videos and website... Frank Bruno
I am not saying this is where all of the traffic will come from I was just asking about ranking on youtube as far as marketing a musician. I think youtube right now is probably more powerful then myspace as far as marketing now depending on your niche. If used right it can bring massive amounts of traffic but I do agree SEO is more time well spent for 90% of niches.
If you plan to use Youtube to drive traffic to your site! You need to create videos the youtubers want to see like this one:http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q1_XUpgH_UE The kinds of videos that will get... ATTENTION! are Funny Weird Inspiring Shocking Interesting Sexy Personal Demonstrates Instructional and like the video above GROSS! by the fact that it has over 20,978 views to date!
YouTube ranks the videos by popularity, I think. However, the measure popularity by various factors, including how many people have rated, what the average rating is, how many views it has, how many comments it has, etcetera. Just make a video that will be popular. I made a blog post about it recently: Promoting Yourself on YouTube Thanks, Scott
If you upload rare videos that nobody else has or like me for example I upload some rare music videos and concert footage Ive had for years. The views and hits I get are in the tens of thousands now. If you fit a niche in Youtube you will be successful and get traffic.
