Adsense Policy over sites which have rapidshare links of copyrighted material ?

I was under the impression that you can not put adsense on sites which share rapidshare/megaupload links of copyrighted content like movies/games/books but than huge sites like avaxhome.ru are surely using it.

Now technically it should be fine with adsense TOS as well, afterall the files are not on your server.

Can someone share his experience on this. May be someone who had contacted google about this.

Haven't asked google (no reason to) but consider this: you are not providing the content per se but are still providing access to it, which is really no different. The G is the only one that would be able to rule on it with any certainty...and even then...

Edited: The Policies uses the word "promote" a lot which signifies, to me anyway, that linking to such would also be frowned upon.

 

i think previously i saw megaupload has google has up, not sure if they still do. Does that help?

 

I think google is kinda biased towards big sites. Like avaxhome.ru is sharing softwares/ebooks/movies which are all copyrighted but still they are been allowed with closed eyes. If the same is done by small time publisher than they will never get booted out.

A long time back I had asked them but got a very vague reply. saying Just follow the TOS and do not violate it. It seems the person himself wasn't sure what to reply

Thank goodness there's no copyrighted material on Google-owned Youtube. So, no hypocrisy on that front.

 

i see lot of megaupload/rapidshare sites running adsense ads. i think its more like you run it as long as there is not issue or anyone complains. i think if you are doing a new site, then be safer than sorry and avoind any possible future issue and go with a site/niche that has no question around it. if you have to ask whether it is within TOS, than you know... the answer could be either or both
