I just made a new blog and added adsense to it. Could i have some reviews on it? I'm seriously new to everything here, i'll take any suggestions seriously. I'm trying to make it so that I get the most out of the adsense program. http://gotittwisted.blogspot.com I would have made a wordpress one, but like I said i'm new to the game and it seems a lot harder to work with, at least for me at this time. Thanks for any help -Jesse
Welcome to the boards My first opinion on your blog is this: Great looking start to a nice personal blog, but get it ASAP off of blogspot. If you do intend to make this a money making website that is taken somewhat seriously... blogspot is not the way to go. Grab yourself a .com, some hosting for it and install wordpress. Wordpress is by far the best thing to learn off of. You don't need to know how to code or design anything, it's all done through a administration interface that a toddler could use
Lol well i've tried it and it confused me, that's why I started using Blogger. You're supposed to install wordpress? I thought it was browser based like blogger?
You would need to install it on your web server yes. Most hosting companies offer you a cPanel (it's how you control your webhosting) and you can install WP in 3 easy steps that your cPanel takes care of everything. Then after that it is web based, you login... type what you want to say... and hit "post" and your done I did not mean to sound rude, I just believe BS has turned into a spamming hole for the internet. If I see a BS blog, I immediately shut the page... 98% are a waste of time to even bother reading.
Oh, I didn't take any offense to it lol. Thanks a lot for explaining to me about what you meant though I just made a Wordpress account. I'm not going to be able to afford a domain name just yet, but It wont hurt just starting out at word press right? I'll try and transfer all my postings. If you have any other tips you can think of i'm open for them
Learn as you go, it's a fun process .. remember to always have fun with it, otherwise what's the point? Encourage community participation and feedback, and blog about what you know. Become an expert and a trusted authority figure.
Cool, i'll keep that in mind while i'm doing it. It is a personal type blog, so i do plan on only writing about things that interest me! Thanks for the input! I'll post my worpress blog up once i get everything started with it!
FA is right. Its a nice personal blog. and, using wordpress on your own server will seriously help you to boost it.
I agree with the others, your blog is a very nice personal blog but it's not ABOUT any one thing. It's about trucks, elections, Clickbank, and other topics. In other words, you don't have a niche and haven't tageted your site to any specific keywords. That means you will get very little traffic from search engines and Google will have a difficult time displaying ads that are relevant to the topics you discuss. The ads won't be interesting to the people who happen to find your site. Sorry, but blogs typically don't do well with Adsense unless they are very focused on a specific topic for which Google has plenty of ad inventory.
AHAH! That's a tip i'm glad I heard about lol. Well.. I guess the one thing I should do right now then is consider what I could blog about for a while.. Thanks I need to put some more thinking into this I can see
Use wordpress......start with Wordpress.com to learn (free). Once you are semi comfortable with it, check out Wordpress.org Pick one of the hosting services recommended. Buy a domain name through that hosting service (you can get web hosting and a domain name for less than $7/mo) Install wordpress (follow the instructions). Start blogging. Then check back with DP to find out how to drive traffic to your site
Why You Should Invest $6.99 And Get Your Own Domain Was looking at the blog, and it's a really really good start for a new blog. A lot of the people on the board jump right into BS blogs, but this one is actually well done. The link I posted above is an article I wrote about buying a domain name. Thing is if you're going to sit at the computer once a day and blog, that's 365 times a year. 365 times a year means you will be taking blogging seriously and be spreading links, etc... but the problem is with a blogspot account you have "no control" over the domain name. I go into a little depth in the article. Also with using Wordpress you can SEO using plugins and such, which is a huge help. My average time for getting indexed in Google right now on my blog is 15minutes-1hour. Along with the comment about choosing a specific niche... I think you can pull off posting about numerous things as long as you have categories and such. Goodluck, I feel like my reply barely made sense, but I'm going to post it anyways. I'm out of it today .
