Find high traffic keywords !!

For those that don't know google released its new and improved webmaster tools a little more than 2 months ago.

In the statistics section there are reports for Top search queries and Top clicked queries for your site

Studying this report one can find keyphrases with potential traffic

HOW ? Here is an example:
15 row on the first table shows a keyword/keyphrase for which our site shows up 1% of the times and which brings us 4% of the traffic (7th row on the second table) even though our position in the SERPs is #131 for that search phrase !!!

Can you imagine what traffic it can bring if you increase your SERPs position ?

Is n't that something to consider on your next link building ? or your next post subject ?

Hope you find this useful. If you want to read a more thorough explanation please read my post on finding high traffic keywords

    Rep is always welcome.

Excellent information. Though I have been using Google webmaster to see the stats, did not really visit the details on stats.

I need all the help I can get. I have a plus-size women's shoe blog and have made about $500 total ( adsense, cj, linkshare) in the last 12 months. This is the type of information I need to increase traffic to my blog.

Great tip - thanks! Is there a "rule-of-thumb" for a ratio between % of times it shows up and % of traffic that would make it worth to go after that keyword?. In your example it's 4% traffic vs 1% showing up i.e. 4:1. What if it was brining you only 2% of traffic? Would you pursue link building or SEO for that keyword?

    Just some food for thought!

Well yes I think any keyword which the site is positioned above 100 and brings in traffic even if it was 1% would be in my book a highly searched keyword

It's like google is telling you what keywords need to be targeted better. I've started taking advantage of this recently.

That was a useful information and I can use it to my site and blog. Keywordcountry is another site on which you can find high traffic keywords.

Thanks. I never take a look on them anymore. Need to check it coz' it's niche keyword you can make more traffic by PPC.

    Good luck

Oh yeah,!! Daddy has only 2 not in the top 10... Oh yeah... :D

But seriously though.... The 2 that are not in the top 10 have so much competition that even though I have worked them to the top ten before. I would have to update hourly to keep them there... My competitors can have them, I'll work on the ones he hasn't thought about.... The old come in the back door trick...lol

    Good tip for the noobs...

    Rep for you!!!!

Google tells me I am rank 7 for 'Nude Girls' but that is incorrect. It also tells me I am rank 14 for 'Christmas', also incorrect.
