Changing the template will affect my rankings?

Okay so I have a site based on coppermine and i'm about to change my template. I want to experiment with the different color sets because now it's all white and I think that affects my CTR. So if I change my template will it possibly affect my rankings?

    Thanks.

IMO it doesn't affect your rankings besides it is just the templates not the whole contents.

I don't know how coppermine works so this is kind of a stab in the dark (stabbing being popular on this site), if the template changes anything in the code structure of your site your rankings might be affected. Though it's not certain that's a bad thing ;)

Changing templates shouldn't play much of a role in effecting rankings. Having less code bloat can only be a good thing, not vice versa.

hi spring, changing your template or theme does not affect your Rankings because search engine don't care about these. but search engines consider the site load time..if your site very slow means you will be penalized by search engines

If you do not change the content or URLs it will not be affected. However be sure that your customers love the new design, maybe a full change made them not visit it again

An old thread you dug up raja3c, but I think that some may still find this useful and applicable to their own situation. Simply changing the appearance of your pages shouldn't do much more than cause a small drop in SERP's. The thing that some webmasters do which can have a much bigger impact is restructuring their site where they are changing around folders, file names, or even using a whole new domain name.

If you are just changing some colors and fonts, moving a div to another part of the page, or adding in some new elements, you shouldn't run into any big hiccups in SERP's. If you are changing file locations or doing something that will affect a search engine's ability to find pre-existing content, make sure you do some research into proper use of redirects and how you can soften the blow of a SERP's hit. Google doesn't seem to like it when it can't find a page suddenly, or when content on a page drastically changes from what it previously was.

Simple things like colors should not make a difference. However, changing 'themes' for example in wordpress can have different coding that will affect the overall appearance of code to Google and it is possible that could have some impact, but it shouldn't be major.
