That seems black hat to me. I mean... it makes sense that google will read alt tags on an image link and give more credit to that page for the keywords... but why would anyone link to the page they're already on with an image link? If someone clicks on it it just re-freshes the page. It's not usefull for the user at all. I'd think SE's could figure this one out on their own and de-value a site for doing it.

First, nice post Will from someone else in Colorado (see top-right above). I tried to give you some green rep, but apparently had done so for another nice post of yours recently.

But ditto previous comments about linking img tags ... can you provide some more information/data about this?

    Thanx,
    alek

also , add how many pages you can with diferent content, (even if you put maps, images, screenshoots, crazy wallpapers and only 3-5 words on all the pages!). Just add pages, and link link them all toghether on your website. Be sure that all those nasty/tons of new pages to link to your keyword-related pages :)

This is why I love DigitalPoint. I was just thinking to myself that I didnt really spend a lot of time on the actual onpage optimization of each of my sites and maybe it'd be a good idea to make sure all the boxes are ticked. I look around for a good guide to do so, checking DP first of course, and surprise surprise an indepth and concise guide is right there waiting. thanks alot.

    Nice post and very realistic.
But one thing that i can't understand. Why do use most of Webmaster all of page titles their Website name or url ?
If you have also making all thing good for SE, you will be found if anybody search your name.
I think its better use only keyword or keywords phrase in title tag.
IF anybody search my, write my url or search in any Search Engine to mycompanyname.
You can your Companyname or URL on your contact page, or homepage.

    I think so its better

To further the 'should we put our company name in title discussion', if you have a company name who is automatically associated with whatever the user is searching on its probably the most important thing to put the company name first!

In terms on CTR when they see a company name they recognise it automatically spaces them a mile out from the page full of 'blue widgets from xxx' results and by putting the company name first its then happens to be the first thing they see as people read from left to right.

If they recognize the company name, they don't need a search engine to find you. If they don't recognize that name, you've just wasted the most valuable SEO real estate on your page.

Use the title for your most important search terms. If you feel it's important to have your site name or company name in there, stick it at the very end.

I posted this in another thread, but it seems to be getting no where. Anyone know the SEO effects of the <abbr> and <acronym> tags? For example, would using the following help you rank well for both GPDW and Gypsum Drywall?

    <abbr title="Gypsum Drywal"><acronym title="Gypsum Drywall">GPDW</acronym</abbr>
    Code (markup):

I'd have a small version of the image on the page, linking to the full-size version, and have the full-size version link back to the original page.
