Hi I am looking to create an accout with some sort of a blog service and i was hoping to find some suggestions as to where I should go for this. Basically I'm looking for a blog site where I can actually post ads on my own blog (Chikita, AdSense, etc)?

Register a domain, setup hosting, then put up WordPress. It's the best blog system right now and it's free, open source, and since you won't be going through Google Blogger or the other ones out there you won't have restrictions on the ads you can display. WordPress also has alot of extra plugins and templates that you can download to customize it alot more.

Amen. I would suggest this too. IF you can't afford either -- head over to www.wordpress.com and get yourself an account. Free service and it's always up to date.

I am very happy with blogsome.

    www.blogsome.com

It is based on word-press, the advantage of Blogger is that you can have categories.

Plus you are allowed to make some changes to template.

    Infonote,

Enjoyed your blog. I grew up living on a 40 foot sailboat. We sailed all around the Pacific NW, up through Victoria Canada and such. Was quite a magical childhood to say the least. After spending several years on the sailboat we then moved to a 48 foot Trawler. I have so many vivid memories of life on the boat.

Anyway, sorry...back to the topic at hand. Did you have any trouble with Blogsome taking awhile to send you your login password? I signed up about 20 minutes ago and no email yet. So I clicked lost password and it said it was sent but again no luck.

    Thanks for compliments.

Sailing is my favourite hobby but due to my studies, it is being neglated.

Now, that my exams are finishing, i want to learn more. Besides sailing of course (where you improve the most), making notes makes you learn a lot about sailing. I am learning a lot and (hopefully) helping others in the process.

Anyway, back to topic, i don't remember but i think it did not take long.

They have a forum. They are friendly so best thing is to ask.

Don't focus on adsense right away, start having an idea on what to blog about first ;)

First, go to namecheap.com and buy a domain.
Second, go to my host company and get hosting for your new domain.
Third, go to wordpress.org and download the wordpress blog.
Fourth, unzip the file, make the changes you want in the various files.
Fifth, upload the entire thing via FTP to your new domain.
Six, see what it looks like live so you know where to make the changes, etc.
Seventh, send me $100 for this short tutorial...lol

Start with something small like BLOGGER, than if you like what your doing and think it’s worth wile to spend some money, go ahead. I don’t think spending money right at the beginning is a good idea. I’m only looking for paid hosting now.

If you're not quite sure what to do, yeah ... try the free stuff. If you have a concept and are ready to go for it all the way ... then I would definitely go with a real domain, hosting and wordpress. Just my [IMG]

Do you know of any cheap web host that offer a domain name? Also that lets you have multiple databases so you can host a few blogs. I’m thinking of taking my pro next week.

    Yes! DreamHost (aff)

I´m with then for almost a year and all I can say: Dreamhost rocks! Lots of bandwidth(1TB), unlimited domains/sub-domains, free domain, etc...

Dreamhost gives you a free domain? And you own it or they own it?

My personal recommendation would be www.asmallorange.com and www.namecheap.com

    Hosting: $5/month
Domain: $7.99/year (unless you choose a .info which is $2.99/year)
