Professional jargon IS keywords!

I wanted to point out that if you are an established professional there are significant non-income benefits to building a website and you already know the keywords to use.

It takes little technical skill to create a blog and start posting articles with thoughts about your profession. Use the jargon of your discipline and you are likely to quickly rank for these specialized terms. They may not get a lot of traffic, but it will all be very targeted. What would it do for your resume if you can point out you rank highly for several professional terms?

"starter interrupt" is searched less than 10 times per day according to the DP Keyword tool. Yet starter interrupts are sold by several companies with sales totaling millions of dollars. We are in the process of developing a new one and started posting our thoughts, observations, and progress on a website. We now rank well for starter interrupt plus several technical terms that may attract notice from visitors who are interested in those devices.

The site will never have much traffic or generate significant adsense income, but when the time comes to market our device, I think it will provide a lot of credability.
