Greetings, I have a website that has somewhat heavy traffic, about 1 million page views and 300,000 visits per month, I am told that the best way to go for me would be to find advertisers directly, so I wanted to know, how would I market my site?, how much would I be able to sell ad space for? I was thinking in the range of 70c - $1 CPM My site is an Anime fan site in Spanish, updated daily, with forums and part of a network of fan sites. here are the stats for last month: November (Analytics): Page views: 1,071,232 Visits: 388,519 Uniques: 112,413 Alexa: 9,902 Google PR: 3 Geography (Alexa): Mexico 38.4% Chile 22.7% Dominican Republic 8.2% Venezuela 7.1% El Salvador 5.2% The ad location would be in the same place as I have the adsense at the moment, 3 ads in the middle of content. This is the link Thanks in advance for your time and your help!
Why to waste your time if you can get the same from adsense...BTW...nice spanish site...Im looking to buy some...lol I know that adsense in spanish is getting low conversion in comparision to english sites...but I think the numbers that you are giving can be made on adsense...or am I wrong?
finding advertisers directly is not stable enough. Adsense is always there is you use it. What you can do is the same as myself use adsense, but then look for advertisers at the same time, and if some dude wants to buy a spot, then you take away one of the adsense ads and replace it with the private dudes'. Maybe one day you'll have enough contacts to always be selling private, maybe you won't, but at least the profit will always be comming in.
Go to similair sites as your own and contact their advertisers. Let those webmasters do the work for you. There are also firms out there that bridge advertisers with webmasters. You will make a hell of a lot more money than adsense ads. But, but, if you have the space, use them. Just don't over do it with the ads, like Askmen.com. That is one of the reasons why their readership went downhill. So...how did you get 300,000 hits???
Shoemoney brings out some very good points about why Asense is bad. Check it out here www.shoemoney.com/2007/12/16/smart-ways-to-monetize-your-blog-blogworld-presentation
When I started out I also had a heavy traffic site. Unfortunately I found it very difficult to find partners to advertise. I have made over $80,000 from Adsense on this site and if you implement it correctly with correct layout, ad format and placement you will make a good sum. Just remember it takes a bit of tweaking. After I tweaked my website I got about 6 times the amount I was initially making. If you do decide to go the Adsense route you may want get Joel Comm's Adsense Code. It is very cheap if you buy it on Amazon.
thanks for all your replies, Im looking at the shoemoney site. The thing is that I get a very low CTR and an even lower payout, the CTR is about 0.2-0.3% and the payout, Im not sure I can give that info, but its really low. I just installed the phpads script, so, I can have both, adsense and private advertisers. I'll soldier on with adsense, but fromt he shoemoney video, adsense is the worst thing for bloggers :S
a good thing you could do would be two add a link on your website adverise here and set so people can fill in a form on where they want to put there ad. and then you can then email them back on the costs and leave you adsense ads untill the space is take up. but make sure its cost more then what you would make with adsense. I mean put this link in your main nav bar
how much could I charge for that 468x60 ad and for each 200x200 sidebar ads? In order to top the adsense, I should have about 5 rotating ads on each one, so that would be 15 advertisers, like $80-100 month each, or a 1$ CPM are those prices reasonable?
well you first need to how much you make with you pay per click ads. then when some comes to to say they want there ad there you say i make this much on this spot now so if you want your ad there you pay this eg more lol. but i would say you could charge around 40$ a mouth for an ad on your site if it gets the hits maybe more hope this helps
Mikeboy, You may want to test the waters by becoming a publisher for a ad network for banner advertising. There are several of them out there. This will give you the ability of showing your banner adspace to prospective advertisers, while finding out what type of CTR you are getting for your advertisers. I can tell you that sites that where we manage advertisers, on the low end, running around 25,000 page views per month they are charging between $500 - $1000/month per advertiser. On the high end flat rates run around $5000/month per advertiser. Ultimately it does depend upon how important an advertiser perceives your website to be and if they do advertise with you what of click through rate they are getting and ultimately what type of conversion rate. You may want to consider bundling advertising services - for example text ads, banner ads and newsletter ads together as a package. Hope this helps.
Wow, what a traffic. If you want to search for direct advertisers, you should create a team to promote your site to those advertisers so your income would be stable.
Ya adsense really has a great drawback that your account can be disabled any time becaouse of some invalid clicks any you can lost hundreds or thousands dollars at any time.
There are many reasons I want to get out of adsense, i agree with shoemoney, the content is not controlled by me, It's a one-click-lost user and well, the payout is quite small. I was looking at this payperplay system, that you monetize every single user, It sounds very interesting as a non-intrusive advertising system. Link here Sign up, give it a try, the ads will begin to pay on Feb 1st, so, one month to go
Mikeboy, you are not allow to ask you visitors to click on adsense.... you will get banned avatar.iamzaks.com/2008/01/04/necesitamos-tu-ayuda/
actually, I don't ask anyone to click on anything, I inform people that the site runs these ads and that that is what helps pay the server, but I specifically tell them that that is the complete opposite than what you said, perhaps before it was not as clear, but now I re-wrote it so there can be no doubt . Thanks
