Offline Editors

I recently was turned on to the joy of offline editors. I'm using Zempt now (open source and free). For Movable Type, there is also SharpMT.

So far, so good. Pretty useful utilities in my mind.

I am a huge fan of the new Firefox Plugin from Performacing.com - you should check it out if you get a chance - the are releasing the update on the 24th - I got a sneak peak and it is very cool.

Give me a few reasons why this helps you. You still need an internet connection to post your info right ? :)

Wow... somebody picked up an old thread here. I've found since then that the offline editors aren't as useful as they started out to appear. They would be great if they weren't so buggy, but each one I tried had it's own set of bugs that made it not quite perfect.

Ideally, an offline editor would be nice - if only so I would have local files handy and a cleaner wysiwyg editor, but the reality is that these tools didn't prove useful enough for me to stick with.

A lot depends on what you are trying to achieve

I used Zempt a bit when I was starting out, as it seemed to be useful, however I stopped using Windows outside work, so that made it fairly useless :)

I also found that the offline editors didn't support posting to multiple categories and other things.

It all comes down to what you want to achieve.

I found that flock was pretty nice to play with, but I'm not sure if it would suit everyone.

I’m also looking for a good editor. I know that you will have to go online to post but the thing is that the Editor from blogger is really a pain. It doesn’t work well with firefox ”I don’t care what they might say” and if you use IE it takes ages to load. But I will agree that most Editors suck and aren’t worth the time you wast installing them. I’m going to try that fire fox plugin bagman suggested, you never know.
