    Hi to all DP members.

I have a question and would like to know the opinion from DP members.

Do you think its good that DMOZ accepts adult sites in the web directory?

    http://www.dmoz.org/Adult/Image_Galleries/Video_Clips/Hardcore/Cumshots/Long_Clips/ :eek::eek::

Hope to get your opinion :) Its amazing that they allow these sites and our SEO related websites and directories will get rejected. :D

Its nothing personal what I'm posting here but its reality and I was wondering why they are doing this.

I hope all of you have a great 2008......!

Where have you been hiding all these years? They've always allowed Adult sites so that's nothing new. They also allow seo sites. What point are you trying to make?

Yes, editors are allowed to list deep links at their discretion and always have. Still nothing new.

If it bothers you, maybe you could stop making live links to the Adult. categories. Or not. Just a thought. :)

I think things like this should be made public so all the webmasters out there know that adult editors can submit deeplinks on DMOZ directory.

Its a cool idea to introduce this kind of free service.

It is public. Always has been. ;)

By the way, since we both agree that those categories are nasty I'm wondering why you are giving them free links?

No, I don't, I'm totally against it, and so are many other editors, but, the truth is we are not the Internet police or far many other types of sites would also be banned as trash. Maybe even yours.

The Directory catalogs what is on the net, and that crap is on the net, so we list it, but we make it as invisible as possible, you won't see it on the front page.

Tut, tut, now, we list seo sites, and we even have some of the rascals as editors, ;).

Deeplinks are added at an editors discretion, they shouldn't be getting submitted as deeplinks, in most cases. We want the main url, unless a site is hosting other sites, like a school district hosting pages for individual schools.

Probably you will be upset while reading dmoz.org/guidelines/kguidelines/site-specific.html#deeplinks ,
and especially "In the Kids and Teens directory, there are certain instances in which deeplinking is considered more acceptable :)

Well, thanks for bringing up the kids section in a thread about the adult section.

Though you are correct, deep links are allowed throughout the entire directory. Some sites even have thousands of them ;)

IMO , the question was never about Adult ... but rather why thread starter's site's deeplinks were rejected .

No, and from what I glean from past discussions the majority of Dmoz editors aren't especially wild about it either. That said, the guys that pay the bills seem to prefer it there, so there it stays.

Adult/ is one of the few sections that allows that large extent of deeplinking, "Cooking" being another. The rest of the directory permits deeplinks as editors deem appropriate, but nowhere near to the same extent. Adult/ is a pile of rubbish IMO, so I'd have a hard time thinking that working on it's structure would do anything other than making it a neater pile of rubbish. All IMO, I speak for myself, not the directory.

Now... all you guys go do something more exciting and vote for Annie's pups (Contestant #1) in the Siberian Husky contest.

They are of course winning, as well they should be.:)

Is there DMOZ category which has links to lists of working passwords for some of these adult websites?

That would be very helpful to surfers which is the main goal of DMOZ. :D

    P.S.
Why do all those husky photos like they went through some heavy photoshoping?

Passwords are easy, just give them your credit card and they give you a password.

Dunno about the heavy photoshopping but it looks bad. Thankfully mine don't need it to show off their awesome cuteness. :D
