MFHS or XtraUpload?

    Really.

I am tired of searching and searching ... reading sales pitch, then reviews etc.

I have tried Google, HotScripts, DP, SP .. but could not find a really decent file hosting script. I have got made one custom in past, but I have now decided to focus on marketing rather than further development, bug fixing and find a good script with strong development team which take care of updates, bugs etc.

What I need is a stable and bug free script, which can work on 50k uniques a day and don't get break. Also, have multi server support with load balancing.

The two (i think) good script I can find are, Mega File Hosting Script by yabsoft, and XtraUpload Script.

I request everyone to take time and write a short pros and cons type review about both of these script. Also, please mention if you have used the scripts or not.

I will be really thankful to anyone who participate in this thread, as it will help me to make decision and this might also serve as resource to other fellow webmasters.

I don't know anything about both, one of my friend who used MFHS said its good but eat resources too much and buggy.

    Let us hear your experience.

    Thank you in advance, everyone.

I have tried MHFS and It has lots of updates, mods and skin designers. So I would recommend you that script. Xtra Upload is also a good option also It is Open src. ;)

Its not open source but its free. :D

I like XtraFile is good script but source is encoded. We can't do modification in templates thats the pain for it but its working fine with huge traffic too.

Hope its not too off topic but saves me starting a seperate thread, im guessing that anyone running a file/image hosting service using one of these scripts would not be using less than a dedicated server?

you are right. Any decent sized file/image hosting service needs dedicated server. Or at least VPS, if its a smaller one.

Thanks Idiot Inside, il do some research into both dedicated and vps, ive never used either yet, only shared hosting.

Quite a jump up in monthly costs i realise, but i guess decent deals around if i look.

I recommend checking out webhostingtalk forums for info and packages of vps and dedicated, especially if you are new to this. And better look for dedicated VPS for start, and try to chose the company which can upgrade you to dedicated, on demand.

    Good luck.

What site do you run using MFHS? Is it large enough? I have heard MFHS is too heavy on server.

    Can we see your site?
