Right now its just a discussion to get people to either agree or disagree. And its dealing with webhosting, so I think I posted it in the right section.

    Lets let them keep posting

I enjoy reading about the shoutserv, emopunk, hostparlor ect. problems and how people have learned their ways then 3 months later they got fooled by the next one.

Yea, saying "Unlimited" is like saying "Never" and never is a long, long time!

If there were such thing as unlimited? I would certainly still have all my hair! And I sure as hell would not need any money.. :)

I offer Unlimited plans, But for a high price. I don't offer mine to make quick money, I offer it to give people peace of mind that they won't run out of space all the sudden. Unlimited is OK as long as you don't do something like HostParlor did and offer unlimited for $50 per 2 years.

Now, compare yours to the others. Unlimited hosting for $1 a month or $2-3 a year!? Thats incredible. I hope someone could point me in the direction of an unlimited hard drive.

The simple fact is: why would people go to the expense of renting out a dedicated server at $100+ a month and get 2TB bandwidth and 250gig space, when they could choose some 13yr old host using his home computer with its "unlimited hard drives" and bandwidth!

Reason: because unlimited doesn't exist, because you don't get 2TB bandwidth/200gig space for less than $100. Fact, get over it, prices just aren't that cheap.

Also true: most of the people who sign up for these kind of offers rarely use anything near the amount given, they just think their site will become the new google.

This is even true when a user signs up for a package with actual limits. We have customers who choose our biggest package and end up using 500MB space and use 1GB of bandwidth a month! Yet they sign up for 10GB+ space 100GB+ bandwidth plans.

But well thats the nature of hosting I love customers who buy the largest packages it means extra profits :)

Well that's why you make sure to post ad's on every forum allowing it: http://webhostingtalk.com, http://hostingdiscussion.com ect. Having a bit of advertisement money also helps. This forum is littered with insane deals so the effectiveness of anyone not selling unlimited hosting is not great. Well at least I think so based on the traffic of the forum and our sign ups from word of mouth, other forums ect. make digital point seem almost pointless.
