I'm Australian and i find using the general web proxy slow so i began a search for a australian proxy cause it would obviously be faster and all. And guess what? i found non  I suggest someone here create one and i would assume it would get alot of traffic being the only australian web proxy in the world!

This would help Australians because we are pretty 3rd world when it comes to technology and the majority of us use 56kb to 512kb connections speeds. so the interenet is slow how it is and using a american web proxy would be even slower

so yeah its just an idea for all of you entrepreneurs

It would be no use, as Australian bandwidth costs are PHENOMENAL! + when targeting schools and such, not many people will have the technical background to go and search for "(country) proxies"..

IMHO a waste of very very very expensive bandwidth

I had enquired about Australia bandwidth before, it comes in blocks of 30 GB and is more expensive than a 1 mbps line. No way any proxy is going to survive in Australia.

There have been plenty of kids (I assume you're one) who have started successful businesses doing what others say can't be done.

If you think there is a market then put together a business plan, pitch it to your parents and make it happen. Your parents will assess the risk and reward and if you know your stuff they will back you.

    If they won't then either
    * they don't believe you are mature enough to handle such a venture (are they right?)
    * the venture isn't a reasonable business proposition

I'm sure you can do it, but it wouldn't be easy to keep it free.. maybe you could get someone with some rack space in an aussie data centre to help you out.. or even sponsor it?

Rack space there is reasonable, it is the bandwidth that kills. I don't think anyone wants to sponsor something that will easily give them a 4-5 digit bill at the end of the month. Don't laugh Australia's bandwidth is EXPENSIVE!
