Affiliates vs. Blogger?

I wonder if it is allowed to put affiliate links and banners on Google's blogspot blogs? I know, a TLD domain would be better. However, I'd like to use blogspot blogs for testing, as it's free. I'm going to do some SEO experiments.

So is this OK? I will just edit my blog template and insert my affiliate links into it, right?

I am pretty sure you can stick an affiliate banner on a blogspot or blogger type of blog..As long as you follow the guidelines and are not using it for any type of spam or anything against their TOS I highly double they care if their banner is on a free hosted blog.

It is always good to test the waters with a blogspot blog and it is allowed. If you want to make things big in the future, go for a self-hosted blog because it will be disappointing after you have gained all the search engine traffic but you need to move because of the restrictions Blogger has been placing on you.

it is really ok on blogspot, and what about wordpress? If I'm not mistaken it is against their TOS to place affiliate links.. or links to affiliate programs... something like that)

I purpose you find a hosting and install WordPress on it. Coz you never know one day google suspend your account due to many uncertain reasons(in case you accidentally violate their terms). They won't listen to your excuse.

They can even block your site from their search engine. So my two cents is

be careful whenever you use any google service (include blogspot)
that's the reason i prefer wordpress then blogspot
