Should I distribute the articles I wrote or keep them unique on my website?

I was thinking about distributing the five articles I just wrote to different article directories. I know Google likes unique content but won't my articles not be considered unique if I were to distribute them?

put them on your site, leave them on there for a while (so google know your the original source etc) and then distribute for extra inbound links.

The best course of action would be to publish them on your site and release a few elsewhere, duplicate content is never good and the more content on your site the better!

I think a balance is good. Your right about the duplicate content, you should never put them in both places..
I think write good content for your website first and then start submitting seperate articles(maybe along the same theme of some of the articles on your site, but with different content), these articles will give you good backlinks and hopefully others will pick up your articles and you will get some good traffic aswell..

How prolific a writer are you? If you can crank out articles you can always keep some and sell some. Personally I wouldn't want to see something that I wrote being used by the competition against me. John

Rewrite the article a little and submit it to articledirectories! You have original content on your site and get something back for all the hard work by distributing good articles with links back :)

One of the first tips Internet Marketing/SEO advisers give is to submit press releases/free articles for gaining publicity and page-rank with in-bound links, many sites have press release section on their site as well.

If one writes reviews of his articles for free articles redistribution than they are not articles but reviews, it doesn't make good publicity if you submit your bad articles for distribution and leave good ones at your site, it makes less sense to submit good articles and leave bad ones at your site, and it's hard to keep up with producing so many articles to have ones on your web-site and ones to submit elsewhere in order to keep up with the page-rank in-bound links that demands for new articles.

Some advices are contradicting or at least confusing, is there the right answer on it?

Well I wouldnt worry about the PR unless you are selling things to people interested in PR. Otherwise submit away..the more links you have out there the more people can reach your site. But thats just my own opinion.....
Good Luck in whatever you do with them

Sorry for my double post, tried to edit the first one, the word I was looking for is consensus in 'is there a consensus of opinions on what's more beneficial'.

I would always keep the articles unique for my site. If I had 10 articles written, I'd keep 5 100% unique and take the other 5 and send them around to article sites. I never used whored articles on my own sites =\

    That's a good idea.

The problem with with posting on article sites is that people take your links out and google may credit them with the contect ... not you.
