I recently crossed the 4,000 post mark, and by doing so, I also broke into DPs top 100 poster (by number of posts). I'm now at 98. In addition, I've been here almost 23 months (well, registered anyways - been here longer than that). I figured it was time to step up and offer some advice to the new guys. 1) Search, search, search. Most questions have already been answered. I've see "what is bum marketing" WAY too many times. 2) Don't SPAM. It'll just cloudy up the community. 3) If you don't know, don't post. See below as well. 4) Cite your information when possible. This goes along with the above, but before you make a claim, make sure you can back it up. I've seen NUMEROUS posts on this forum were people will actually say some illegal things are fine. Ah! 5) Be nice, but if you get in an argument, just drop out. No use keeping an argument going on a forum. It just dirties up the thread, category, and the community. 6) Don't scam. That's pretty obvious. 7) At least attempt to use full sentences and words. Writing "u" and "b/c" and "r" makes you look immature, young, and stupid. 8) Give people green reputation (it's the nice thing to do!). Sorry I couldn't write more, the holidays are so busy! Random facts about my postings: I've averaged over 6 posts per day and my profile page has a pagerank of 3.
Search is the most important thing. I see around 20 new threads a day where at the bottom of the page, there are results that are exactly the same as the topic title with responses..
Nice list there.... i will also try and make one when i reach the 4000 posts mark.. or at least half of it... BTW liked your point number 7....
That's a remarkable achievement indeed. drig must have devoted most of his time here in dp. Thanks for the advice
Thanks for the kind words. Yep, I've spent a TON of time on Digital Point making posts, but I've also learned a lot by just browsing and reading.
Post count does not mean crap. But drigs have been helpful.. even on his 4,00th post he does not post a "bow down, i own you allz post' it was helpful..
Good advice. I always use the almighty "search" to find answers to my questions. It would probably help my post count if I didn't, though. "How to make moneys on the internets plz?"
Great advice for the newbies For me the most important thing is don't spam. You'll get infractions left and right if you do.
Nice advice for newbies. Hope they care to read it properly and learn something from it. Any advice for oldies BTW congrats for 4k posts and see you soon at 5k. DON.
Congrats buddy!Thats 2 times higher than mine! Just wondering where did you find the top posters link?
