i started a similar kind of thread in general category where i was told to put the inf in this section.

    heres my idea

How About limiting a user to make not more than 5 threads in a week in buy/sell section ..this will keep the section more cleaner i guess .?

I doubt that would help keep anything "more cleaner";) It would probably encourage bumping and thread hijacking.

I make more than five threads a day, probably...

And the original idea is crap, no offense. Should I limit myself to five different business deals a week? Balls!

I do not see any point in that. You limit people from conducting business.

It would be much cleaner if they get rid of the crap like currency trading and VCC sales. It would also get rid of 90% of the scammers.

Madness. The professional sellers here will have more to sell than that. Try that suggestion at eBay and guage the reaction.

No, in fact, eBay is being swamped with auctions that are nothing more than affiliate links, like free Wii, Ipod, Gift Cards.. etc...

At least DP aint allowing ya to stick up threads with affiliate links. :D

But if you notice, there are a lot of people now doing it by starting threads about good deals and telling people to click on the link in their signature aka an affiliate link.

Not the best of ideas imho, it would put people of coming to the site for a start, people would only resort to other methods instead. However I have seen some people posting several threads in BST one after the other, which is somewhat unfair to other members who's threads fall down the page because of it, as far as im aware there isnt a limit to the number of threads you can post like this, unless it comes in under spamming.

Most members though are courtious anyway with the number of threads they post per day in BST so IMHO this isn't really a problem.

To get rid of the scammers and the spammers, have a better registration process. Don't allow people to register with free email addresses. Make people use "legitimate" email addresses (no gmail, hotmail, etc.). After all, this is a webmaster forum. What legitimate webmaster doesn't own a "real" domain with email?

Then when you ban members, ban their IPs, ban their domains, ban all the proxies. You'll save the moderators hundreds of hours of banning duplicate accounts alone.

If you do enough weeding, eventually you'll end up with a nice garden.

    Right on,

Or how about since dp is like a small town treat it like one

Its FREE to visit and join....

BUT you can get fined......like you bump....you can't sell again until you pay $10...

You get 3 fines , you get banned,

    Works for the DMV.............

Works for the government.....we are all paying taxes right?

The money raised could go to St Judes hospital or something ......

I know of a few webmaster/domainer forums that only allow one new thread per 24 hour period. I don't see why it won't work here. It's ludicrous to think that a person can't think ahead and post all their sales in a single thread once per day.

I will say I like the clutter...it makes finding a gem easier for me imho. Often a good deal is bumped down to page 2 and lost because people are bumping and posting junk. I have picked up at least 3 good deals this past 2 weeks from that. So no...don't change a thing. I like the crap.
