    hello there.

I will be launching a new forum very soon here. I have one vBulletin License and will be picking up a second next year, however it is important that I launch this forum right away.

What I need to know is, which free platform converts to vBulletin smoothly. I know there are solutions for both, however I need to know if one is more transfer-friendly than the other.

    Thanks.

I have personally migrated my phpbb board over to vbulletin once last year and it went smooth. So if you're to ask me, I'd recommend the above.

importing ipb and smf will be a little harder since the passwords have to be reset

other then that, converting anything to vBulletin is easy.

    cheers

With impex both are fairly easy.

I upgraded MyBB to vBulletin at www.computalk.net and all the passwords were lost which was quite annoying, most other things went well though.

Yes. Stories of password loss was what turned me off of SMF. It is a shame too, because I really like many of their build it features over phpBB. No worry however, I will be upgrading very soon. :D
