Heroes forum for sale

    About the site/why I'm selling:

This is a forum where users can discuss NBC's TV show, Heroes. The forum is 1 year, three months old. My reason for selling is simply that I'm very busy and don't have time to run the forum to my satisfaction. I feel someone with more time would be better suited to run this forum. Moreover, while I still watch the show, I've lost interest in it. Because Heroes is so popular, I see it continuing for several more years. Heroes should return next spring, though this depends on the outcome of the writer's strike. In addition to the forum itself, the forum has a gallery installed with several pictures of heroes cast and characters.

    Forum stats:

Registrations/Day:3-4 but 8 - 12 on day after Heroes airs.
    Logins/Day: 20 - 30
    Posts/Day: 70 - 100 when Heroes airs every week. When on a break, 30-40.
    Threads: 1,354

    Traffic:

Traffic is about 10,500 uniques/month for the last two months and 150,000 pageviews. (Screen - traffic as of December 9th)

Recent rankings (google) for "heroes forums" (#3) and "heroes forum" (#4) and others.

    Revenue:

    • I made $30 from Adsense in September and a little less previously. Adsense has been growing each month. (Nov, Oct, Sept)
    • Averaging $20 through Text-Link-Ads each month.
    • $35/month through independent advertisers (I can give you email address of advertiser(s))
    • $30 through paid forum subscriptions (3 users @ $10/year)

    $30 Adsense + $20 TLA + $35 link sales + $30 paid subscriptions = $115

Total Revenue: $115 last month., approximately $80 for October.

    Other Information:

    • Domain is registered at Godaddy.
    • Vbulletin license not included because it is expired.

    Bidding:

I reserve the right to accept any offer at any time or cancel any bid. Preferred method of payment is paypal.

    Starting Bid: $100
Bidding increments of $10 only please.
BIN Price: $1200 (or best offer)

any idea how long will the Writers Guild of America strike last?

The strike is breaking apparently. A couple of late night shows were getting their writers back as of a few days ago.

Oh, and as for the bidding, I bid $110.

    Thanks,
    James

it says the forum has 2733 members.

Does vbulletin have a method to bulk email these members, or is that even allowed, for the forum owner to email the members?

    thanks-

wirescale - it's impossible to say. The strike indirectly would affect the activity simply because no new episodes would be airing.

earnbussi - I spend $0 promoting the site. Up until two weeks ago I had all my sites on a shared host. I recently upgraded to a VPS but that's only because my other sites were getting too large. Discuss heroes could easily be run on most standard shared hosting plans. Aside from hosting, there are no expenses.

benshar - yes, users can be mass-emailed very easily.

jvuonger currently has the highest bid at $210.

I should also mentioned that I implemented Kontera for guests a few days ago. Thus far I've made about $1, plus I've had some miscellaneous sales from amazon. These methods of revenue, as well as others, could fairly easily be improved upon.

I'll set the auction end date in a few hours.

pcknowhow.com has the highest bid at $250.

Apparently the limit to edit posts isn't 24 hours any longer, as I had thought. The auction ends on Friday at 10:00 PM Central Standard Time.
