I am creating some sites and blogs and was wondering which directories should I submit them to. I have read that submitting to 1000s of directories using software actually goes against you ? should I use such software/sites, if so which ones ? if I should not submit it to 100 or 1000s of directories, in that case which high PR directories should I submit my sites to ? what other method should I use to get links to my sites ? any other pointers or direction would be appreciated as well. thanks.
I would stay away from submission software. heres some to start you off Free web directories http://www.dmoz.org 9 http://www.lii.org/pub/htdocs/home.htm 8 http://www.femina.com 7 http://www.gogreece.com 7 http://www.sacentral.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm 7 http://www.worldhot.com/ 7 http://www.123india.com/ 7 http://www.elib.org/ 7 http://www.ezilon.com/ 6 http://www.epooch.com/ 6 http://www.christiansunite.com/ 6 http://www.toronto1.biz/ 6 http://www.canadianeh.com 6 http://www.aardvark.co.za 6 http://www.nzs.com/ 6 http://www.aigam.com 6
as much as you can, you can submit it to free directories with regular links if you don't want to get featured listings or reciprocal links... but it would consume time before you get approved on the listings... you can check out some here: FREE DIRECTORY LIST
I'd suggest you go for submitting to normal directories and make sure that you've done your keyword research right before that. Variate your titles so that you can benefit from the latent semantic indexing and try doing them one at a time.
Also consider submitting site to local directories/search engine and online yellow pages like http://yp.yahoo.com/.
the best option is to do it manually and choose the regular links (or one-way links) instead and pick the right category that suits your sites/blogs
Directories Articles Nice Content (can get you backlinks) Link exchanges (with relevant sites mostly)
thanks for the links. I will submit them. so If I have a few keywords (instead of just one), I should use them in different directories which are somewhat relevant in meaning? for example if I am planning to use "get free Ipod", I can variate that and use "get free ipodtouch" or "get ipod for free" etc...etc..right ?
You should keywords that are actually describing your website as a whole otherwise you might have directory owners denying your submission
There are at least 3 genres of software you can use to submit your sites to directories 1)Automatic software It's the bad choice because make wrong selections and submission look spam. 2)Autofill software It is a software that fill the form for you when you go on the add url of each directory It is a good tool and let you speed up the manual submission. 3)Semi automatic software These softwares are an enhanced version of autofill and are safe if you use correctly the pro respect the autofill are a database of directories a report of submissions help to avoid to submit duplicates. My advice is to use semi automatic software to your priority sites, and a manual submission service on this forum for non priority sites.
most directories take forever to post free link submissions, but its so little effort and it can pay off why not?
Below are the software I tried. the first work well but it's not free the second is free for a limited time but I was unable to use, however look very promising http://www.submitsuite.com/products/website-submitter.htm http://www.knowbotron.net/home/index.php there are others softwares if you search dp you will find a lot of post.
