So I've just started a couple of sites (blogs) and I'm still writing and trying to build links and get traffic. Right now my traffic sucks. My inital plan was to build up some traffic and then apply to AdSense. Is this a good idea, or should I just apply now and stick it on? (even though it'll probably make me $0.00)
Don't be shy when it comes to monetizing your website right from the start, readers don't care about that as long as you offer good information. On the other hand, if you only start placing ads a long time after you've launched then some of your regular visitors (who were used to the website having no ads) might not be that thrilled. Apply right away. Google doesn't care if you have 10/mo visitors or 10000/mo visitors, if your website complies with Adsense ToS then you'll get accepted regardless of your website traffic.
I have a friend who is adamant about building up traffic before adding ads. He said it's better that way. Then again, he's not able to explain to me why, though.
Well I have a slightly different take. I like to wait until real links are pointing to my blog because other bloggers have chosen to. Build up traffic, write compelling content and get firmly seated in my keyword theme. If I am a blog owner and am looking for relevant blogs to link to, I don't like linking to AS blogs. Adsense is great don't get me wrong, but I also think it leaves a negative impression from a "I wanna link to" perspective. My AS strategy is install it after you have a few good incoming links and traffic. But hey, that's just me . H
Add it when toy launch the sites (doesnt mather how much traffic you make money for your sucking traffic it's not much but it's bether then nothing)
So, those who wait do so simply because of wanting to attract humans to the site? It has nothing to do with the Adsense itself, right (ie lower CPC for installing too soon)?
Personally, I'd gladly link to any resource which is worth is, monetized or not. If a certain website has content others may find useful as well, why should the fact that it is monetized keep me from spreading the word? Obviously, the ads should be placed in good taste as to not make the website seem spammy, but that is a matter of common-sense. Alan Johnson
Ummm, think about it? What do humans do when they visit? What do you think the net result would be if you end up with more humans visiting? It takes a little longer if you wait but I think the longterm rewards are greater. Especially when a new blog or site (without any magic) doesn't make much $$ anyways. Even if you want to put it up NOW just because...don't expect your bank account to explode . I prefer to spend roughly 1 month building it up with content, links, social BM, etc first. There are other reasons why but...gonna plead the 5th on those ones . It's entirely up to each blogger when to put AS up. My advice is zoom out as far as you can and look at the big picture of your blog. There's a reason why many of the real heavy weight bloggers don' t even run AS at all. H
My initial thoughts about the issue was that I thought Google wouldn't approve a site with little to no traffic. When I read the ToS there was something about how they can cancel your account if you don't generate enough clicks or impressions or something. Did I misread that, or does it just not happen?
If you don't generate clicks, they simply don't pay you Don't worry, your account will not be canceled for such a reasonl Alan Johnson
I don't see it anywhere is tos, you are correct. On the other hand, I do know of people that have been terminated due to lack of activity. H
Perhaps if no impressions/clicks are produced in a 6 or 12-month timeframe, they assume that the person has given up on the account and disable it, who knows But, since the thread starter is most likely asking if his/her account could be disabled due to the fact that the website in question, as a result of not having a lot of traffic, doesn't generate many clicks, I'd say that there is no danger of that happening. Alan Johnson
Make sure you have at least one entry on your blog before you put the adsense on Right, they wouldn't owe you anything!
There really is no reason in waiting, as others have said. If you go ahead and add it now, I think you would be surprised to see a few clicks, even though your traffic is not yet very high.
AdSense works best when your link value isn't much. When you have good traffic, you can sell it yourself make much more money. So I guess you should add it on your site.
