Let's say you had $3000 to spend however you wanted to get your already established site (currently ranked in google but not top-page) to rank in the top page for your desired keywords. How would you do it?

I'd use it on hiring a good writer to write me some decent keyword rich content.

I would spend it on a range of services from good content to quality links... And I suggest thinking long-term! No Google Adwords...

I'd hire a great article writer I already know. His services are currently too expensive for me to justify spending money on, but I know he does a good job. So if I had an extra $3,000, that's where I'd spend it. :)

Nice responses, that's pretty much what I had assumed people would say. Does anyone have any outside of the box ideas that they would splurge on?

Hmmm....well, I could also spend it on a cool publicity stunt, which would be talked about in a lot of blogs (thereby providing lots of quality backlinks). :)

Why not learn how to write yourself? :) It's good to have a few writers as friends.

I'd spend it on banner advertising/

Ha. well I wasn't talking about any site in particular, I was just wondering if we could brainstorm some interesting ideas with the topic. My main site is an ecommerce site.

I guess when it comes down to it, it's always about creating quality content. Whether that's through writing, video production or awesome publicity stunts, it's about giving people something to watch/read/be entertained by.

Good post and good suggestions from the members but if I would have had an extra $3000 then I would have spent across content writing which would have helped me in keyword rich content, articles and blogs. Buying permanent links from some thematic sites.

I would keep it. Google SEO is a bit worthless since it can be changed at a whim when Google decided to change there algorithm. I would send a couple of it on a competition to drum up publicity.

Paid advertising works best especially with e-commerce sites.

It's all the rage now paid advertising...

Well okay its hundreds of centuries old......

That must mean it works right??

People online search for what you have to sell and when they see your well written advertisement which speaks to their needs / wants / desires then you make a connection.

7 connections or less and you make a sale.

But that's just what I know.....

    Peace! :)

Out of $3000, I would only spend $500.

Some of them would go in learning how to create good site-structure with maximum on-page SEO, most of the money would go into writing high quality, informative articles relevant to topics/pages and site.

The rest would go to get few directory submissions from cheap but quality directories.:) for the purpose of getting indexed quickly.:D

    I would hire my company www.graphixdot.com :D

No really though, I would either hire a company, or do the work myself by reading DP and buying links when appropriate.
