I hope shawn upgrades DP to vbulletin 3.7 when its out - more like facebook

I had heard about it but I just saw the preview pics and it looks good, hopefully DP does get the face lift.

 

When it goes gold, I'm sure shawn will upgrade.

I'm sure DP wont be upgraded right away.. Wasn't it still running 3.6.4 until just recently ?

It will be upgraded, but from what I've read, Shawn has hacked this vB board to bits for performance and security, so it would probably be a quite a job to upgrade a board of this size.

With that said, I'm really really looking forward to playing with 3.7 on moday

if you wanna make friend, PM that guy and get his facebook/MSN whatever

there will be a lot flame war/personal attack in that message board and then mod will be busy cleaning up the mess

 

It will take some time for sure (waiting for final bug free version and lots of testing with a forum of this size for Shawn.)

 

I hope he doesn't. It will just complicate things.

vBulletin is going to be great but most of the features aren't needed here at DP .... this isn't a forum for social networking, it's a webmasters forum.
Besides as has been said Shawn has modded this forum to the Nth degree so upgrading to 3.7 would be a nightmare, a lot of the mods won't work so would have to be recoded. Then theres the bandwidth issue, add those message boards and group functions and it would go through the roof.

I won't be adding it to my existing forums but have a new site where it will be installed.

 

I don't like it for reasons mentioned above. Just get someone's Facebook or MSN if you want to chat with them...

 

Im 50/50 on it, Oh well, I mean it doesn't matter if people flame you because Im sure theres something that you can just delete the messages yourself.

 

Not really, most mods will continue to work except for the gallery mod.

 

Looks like it has some pretty cool features - I'll be upgrading my forums to it. Any idea when it'll be released?

 

Nobody knows yet - but hopefully by January.
