It depends on the theme of the site the links point to. If your website is adult related then adult links would be OK. I think you need to try and keep incoming links to your site related, whether they are adult or not. As far as what Google has to say about it http://googleblog.blogspot.com/ :D

It's the same freaken link Google gives me when I email questions ;).

If your site is not connected to the theme keyword of the site that is linking to you then it is likely the links will mean very little in terms of gaining SERP points.

I think you need to consider themed keyword categories in linking.

    E.g.

Fruit site links to apple sauce recipe site= makes sense- Good
Fruit site links to car auction site= makes no sense- No good

Why are adult sites linking to you? Is there relevance?

    Professional Dude,

Whether your SERP's get affected or not depends on how relevant the links which are pointing to your website are.

If SERP's were really being affected by getting backlinks from adult websites, half the webmaster fraternity would be killing their competition by ammasing crappy adult backlinks for competitor sites to bring them down or whack them outta the rankings - this im afraid is an often misconcepted notion.

If you get backlinks which aint related - you dont get value off them, as simple as that.

If i were you, i'd stay out of recip. link exchanges as obviously that can be easily located and your website can be penalized since its a two way linking thing.

I see, well I wouldn't worry about it. There are many links that point to sites where the webmaster has no control over it, for better or worst.

Personally I would stay away from auto link exchange systems.

There is no real good short cut to getting good themed links, you gotta pound the pavement. Forget about the porn links that are pointing to you, they'll likely be devalued or discounted entirely. Spend your energy getting quality incoming related links.

Hint: Don't buy 'em...earn or get them for maximum results. Google is VERY picky with what they define as a valid link (vote).

    Cheers

It's Okay for your site to links to adult sites as long as it's related to your site.

Do not fear, my friend. Like I said work on what is here and now...history can't be changed. The more good votes you can get to your site the more diluted those pesky porn links will become. I can almost certainly tell you that they are not worth your worry, especially so close to Christmas ;)

Its good to have links which are related to your site, otherwise your SERP's are definitely going to affect

    no..no and NO!

If your having unrelated links - those links are devalued and your SERP's arent affected, only that the money spent on garnering those links is a waste.

If you spam unrelated links en-masse then your gonna have the G guys penalizing you!

Well, even unrelated links from crappy sites are links. There aren't links without value, every link has a minimum value, even if it's very low. These links will never hurt your site or rankings, if they'll help is another question, but no worries.
