It appears that this is the new DMOZ model.

This is a natural extension of their path away from processing submissions, considering user feedback, or accepting status requests.

DMOZ has adopted an "only we know anything worth knowing" culture.

A DMOZ editor felt that your site was worth listing. Congratulations! I hope the link helps out your web site. :)

It's really weird, everytime I like DMOZ, I see something that really bothers me ... and when I think that DMOZ is just plain shit, I see something good or have something good happen from DMOZ.

~50% of all sites that get added to DMOZ were never submitted.

    Mwahahahaha!

It appears that a DMOZ editor is reading this thread.

They sent me some red, and started the comment off with the word "no" -- but it turns out that they agreed with my post!

You may find this funny, but the editor is right in what he's saying. DMOZ editors were always able to add sites that weren't submitted but they thought relevant/interesting enough. So emil2k just got lucky his site was found be an editor that quick.

Congrats emil - this happened to my blog and I found the DMOZ listing by sheer luck.

No doubt, it's not a rare occurence, but rare enough that sites get found for inclusion, while crap sites remain in there and millions of other legit ones waiting for review.

Whomever red rep'd Will for having an opinion ... chickenshit!

When you apply to become an editor, you are required to give three examples of sites that would be appropriate for listing in the category you are applying for. It the editor's application is accepted, those three examples automatically become pending listings. Since it was the new editor who submitted those sites, the chances are pretty high they will be added.

Of course editors are able to add other sites too.
