I am going to be opening a brand new webmaster forum in the next couple of weeks, possibly just before Christmas. What I am wondering is whether my incentives for opening the forum are good enough, and whether they would draw people in to post and become active within the forum.

    Here are the incentives brought up so far;

    • 100 posts = $5
    • 500 posts = Free GoDaddy domain (transferable to your account)
    • 1000 posts = $20

Each person will be reviewed obviously before we pay them, although I think this would be a great way to promote the forum. These incentives would be valid for conjunction with each other also, for example - you could post 500 posts and your 500th post would qualify for the $5 and the GoDaddy domain also.

The people would be reviewed to prevent, 'lol' and 'i agree' posts from qualifying, but the serious posters will all be paid. This incentive scheme will be open until we feel the forum is big enough to thrive on its own.

So...what do you all think? Any suggestions? All appreciated. Thank you.

Good, this is also a thread where if you opt-in I will let the people who want to do this an opportunity to get themselves in there first ;). So if you want me to PM you once we launch, let me know in this thread, thanks. More people take the poll please, this information is vital to me.

I think its decent but i think post requirements should be scaled back if your paying $5 for 100 posts maybe go daddy domain for 250 and $15 for 600 posts or something, 1000 posts takes a lot of time, and if people are in it for the incentive your board will start to get a lot of spam from people just waning the incentives. this way the people that want the incentives get them and people that actually want to stay, stay.

edit: please PM me for launch

Yeah, I guess your correct there. I mean 1000 posts is a lot to accomplish and can only be done if you like the place your posting on anyway. I might make it a little less then. How about?

    • 100 posts = $5
    • 300 posts = GoDaddy Domain
    • 550 = $20

I could live with that I suppose.

I got a team of 7 all together so far who will basically sit in my office all day posting and moderating the forum, 3 moderators and 3 support staff, and me the administrator. I think that should be big enough for the launch (at least) until we get bigger :p.

But the guidelines will be simple, spammers need not apply YOU WILL NOT GET PAID :D. Thanks for the feedback.

I have seen so many boards say this type of stuff and then once prizes are to be given out they either do not give them or they will say offer is no longer good etc, basically none of them end up paying out. Should try to find a way so you can guarantee this with people somehow I don't know but I know many people may be skeptical.

Probable within the next 2 weeks, I just don't want to rush it, and for it not to work properly or fail. I'll PM you when we launch if you want.

Well, it is all about trust. I mean I could tell you all, all day that I am definatly going to pay you all. Because I will. But then again, my word is no good to you unless you have faith in something. Don't worry I'll ask people to post threads about when they got paid etc.

You want me to PM you when this place opens? 100 posts is not a lot to do, it will only take 1 person to spread the news, and confirm the payment and it should be all good to go.

I would join. Especially now you amended the offer. I agree that 1000 was too many. If you need any admin help, I do run a virtual office.

Just an idea...You could also offer ad space for a small period of time to posters or 'sponsored by' threads.

i agree with this logic. your going to get a lot of bogus posting. no one will want to go to a forum that everyone is posting simply to gather post counts to earn money.

Exactly, that it why this is only a promotional scheme and will last for 6 month for example. This forum will be moderated very well and spammer will not be accepted - that is why strong guidelines will be enforced.

Not sure why people would think these are good incentives when people can come to this forums and get forum posting jobs where they will earn 10 cents per post rather than your 2 - 5 cents per post. I was infact paying people 13 cents per post here for a good while and still received many poorly written posts where a majority of the people couldn't even put a sentence together and I still paid them.

After that, I will not be using paid posting ever again.

Well thanks for your input, but the incentives aren't so much for the money. The reason you got bad quality posts is probably because you set it much higher. The reason mine are set so low is because I would prefer people to post and when they reach the milestone it is just a nice gesture.

But thank you for your input too.

It's ok. But I don't think you should expect a lot of quality post at those rates. But great incentives nonetheless.

I like your idea. Informed me when it starts via PM.
I have a few questions. Will you pay with Paypal? Will it be allowed to use a signature under posts?
