That IP address was the IP at your house. It's probably changed if he's using his own wireless or if hes plugged anywhere else. Out of luck :(

Maybe try posting banners around your neighborhood saying it was stolen. Put up some pics and offer a reward

The IP is useless because if you trace it then it goes back to the internet connection source, which would be your house.

When the theif connects uses it has his/her home it will get a new IP.

The MAC Address wont change though, but there is no way of tracing it.

Do you have insurance for it? If so claim it, and if not then you might be able to claim it on your house insurance if you have any.

Also if you had any personal details on it such as banking details and passwords then change them straight away.

Also remember to change any passwords that your web browser save and then also change the password to your email because if you use something like Outlook or Thunderbird then it could save your password and he/she could download your email.

I managed to claim mine back on my home insurance, to find a week later over £5000 ($10,000) out of my bank because he someone got some of my banking details from it.

sorry to hear that, there are some companies that offer laptop tracking, sort of like a lojack for laptops you may want to look into that.

Chances are it is lost and gone. If it was a smart thief, he just ran restore to original once he got your information off and all evidence of you are gone. There is a very slim chance of recovering it by tracking it. The only chance is catching the thief with it or evidence left behind. Sorry but I do not think it is a police departments top priority unless you live in a small town with little or no crime.

I live in a apartment complex, and im almost sure it's someone in there. i think they were young, and they dont know anything about computers, so therefor i think everything will remain the same...

you say theres a slim chance of tracking it, i need to know what that slim chance is, what is a step in the right direction towards getting back?

sorry to hear that, one of mine was stolen last year in Amsterdam. The loss was far greater than the value of the laptop, all my files and everything was on there.

call the cops, why are you asking on a marketing forum ??
the ip is easy to change, clearing the cookies will lose any saved login info you had
