You dont want to use "red" and "blue" because you'll be stuck with 200-300 plain/generic (boring) colors.

    And, ":%s/red/c00" beats
    1. CTRL+F
    2. typing "red"
    3. tabbing or clicking to replace
    4. typing "c00"
    5. tabbing or clicking on replace all

Well let's see I've been using Dreamweaver CS3 for a long time now because I love it's FTP feature so I can edit stuff and just save it. That's when I'm editing stuff that's online.

Another thing I like about DW is that it highlights everything and actually has a drop-down when you type an attribute of the choices you have for it.

I use to use old simple notepad. :)

I've never really heard of a CSS editor though. :\

I used to use notepad, but some of the html / php files that open with notepad will be all cluttered up ..

thus i changed to Editpad lite version. Pretty good actually! The best thing is has over notepad is that you can tab with it.

notepad sucks. please don't judge me technically, but it really needs some boost in productivity, does it?

At least you should use a more sohpisticated text editor instead, like notepad++. Well I use MS Expression Web which rocks at boosting your productivity and ability to spot errors.

Does dreamweaver count? I use it because it's a hassle to use different editors for XHTML and CSS :s

I love Notepad++ I have it set as an icon in my quick launch task bar. The ability to set what language of the page your working on is great. Though I pretty much use it for CSS editing and sometimes XHTML.

Also, I like using Notepad 2 as my view source app for Internet Explorer.

CSSEdit on the Mac is hands down the best for the platform. Not sure about windows though.
