The Sitewide Link Demand has flopped!

A year ago sitewide links were a hot ticket. Usually a site owner would say they are selling sitewides and people went nuts and bought them all instantly.

Now it's crashed. Webmasters do not buy them too often, and I don't know why. They are cheap, offer traffic for a cheap price unlike banner spots, and pull your google pagerank up in which helps raise you to new levels in the google search engine positions.

It looks to me that ebooks are the hot sellers now. Of course 99% percent of the time it's a waste of money and in the ebooks it's all hyped to a lie, but people still buy them.

Why is this happening? and is this happening to all advertising in general or just sitewides?

Maybe webmasters are not making enough and the money is getting tight for novice site owners.

    Your thoughts?

I think it's due to the huge gap in knowledge between the established webmasters and the crowds of webmasters who have just started. To summarize, the newbies are going to blow their $ on ebooks until they figure out where their money is best spent.

Still, that doesn't explain the change. It should've stayed the same anyway.

It's too bad the learning webmasters are doing that. It doesn't actually hurt me at all because I just replace spot with a CJ banner, but before other webmasters were moving ahead. If too many people start breaking away from offering advertising to webmasters than its probably going to make the rich, richer, and bring down the chance of success for those hoping new guys

Buying links is a big investment for newbies... and also people.
Buying 2-3 links for $100 per a year is not going to help you raise in search engines.
You need to buy 100s or even 1000s.. or even more. But this all requires a big budget.
Mostly newbies here in DP dont' have that kind of budget.
