Well, Good advice. You are having 6 posts and started advising. Just checkout the whole Dp web hosting forums, and you can find so many happy users from so many hosts who oversells. Can you please describe , what do you mean by overselling ? A 30 GB VPS people will say that they can provide unlimited hosting,but the actual case is , no one will use that much of space if the host is having a very strict TOS. By this mean, the overselling is not there. We have 1TB of hard disk and about 10% of the first 500 gb hard disk is only used.
If you get customer which need all that you offer - you will start getting problems soon. Overselling of course is a good thing for the marketing goals. But it do not work all time.
I dont think so, we have been in business since 1 year, and have 3 servers now including a windows 2003. We have a good TOS which is telling the customer that which are allowed and which are not allowed in our servers. This helps us for controlling both space and bandwidth usage. And the customers are happy because this TOS help them to gain 100% uptime . 1 TB hard disk is not a small thing and if the client is using 1 TB then he should be using it for storing pirated/cracked/illegal files , music , videos and which are prohibited by Terms and conditions. We just remove them from our server for making room for another client.The tos is not for a joke , also, ignorance of TOS is not an excuse.
