There was no specific sub forums for adult theme sites so I apoligize if this is not acceptable.

I just registered this site. No traffic on it at all. I was wondering what the potential is

    SexmyX.com

i have registered others but the words in my opinion are not acceptable to post here ;) Should i try to see if its premium on sedo to auction it? or sit on it and try to get traffic to it.

if you can get (some) organic and some trade traffic you could feasibly ask high $xx. However if you have PR and some keywords in high positions you could ask a few $xxx
Unfortunately porn domains are not worth as much as they used to be, mainly because the porn market had the rug pulled out from under it by 2257 and Rapidshare type sites

that is good information. im so confused with this whole domain thing. when i check sedo on auctions some new extensions like .mobi or even .info adult domains are fetching up too 10,000 USD. and not as catchy as mine. maybe because there is adult content already on the sites?

would parking that domain bring any worth in? im super new to domains.

in my experience no. Because adult sites appear and die faster than a hooker's undies go on and off on pension day, the web surfers are used to 'parked' type pages. To really monetize these 'dead' adult domains an adult orientated parking service is really needed.

And bootygoogle, being the one with the most random traffic hitting it only made $0.15 on Sedo in October, which is why they are no longer parked anywhere.

ok so i might just get a simple site on the go and force traffic to it. keep it kinda clean and hope for the best then some adult company with deep pockets might come along. even if i invest advertising the crap out of it to get some index

yeah that could work. But unlike several years ago, conversions for adult sites are way way way down. I think i am running 1 sale per 800 uniques to the signup page (and I was using Adwords as a test bed)... The site is a DVD Catalogue btw.
But good short domains for adult sites will sell quick if you can demonstrate organic, and referred traffic

so what i get from your opinions (thanks btw) is that the domain does have potential. and i should be able to make a profit. (at least 1$, hey a profit is a profit)

now i would never sell for 1$ profit but you get the idea. Im glad i found something finally i can work with after 19 fails. i touched base with my host (im just running a cpanel account) and i can have non copywrited photos of sexually sugesstive material as long is nothing is showing (clothed or hiding). so i was thinking a simple html table with like guy girl guy girl guy girl pics all around the border(advertise as unisex) and in the middle some text of some jazz.

then go and advertise the crap out of it. my audience would just bounce off the site but better then no hits at all.

another question...my text wouldn't state the domain could be used for an adult theme alough the hint would be all around. name is a dead give away. Would firing google ads be a no no?

im so happy :D finally something i can work with.

google ads are possible as long as you keep to the adsense and / or adwords TOS. However if you are having issues with allowable content, perhaps you should check with a US based host (I am guessing you are hosting in either Australia or you have a rather conservative host) as they will allow it. *Hostgator comes to mind*

ohh so i CAN host google ads then. WEWT :D ill be sure to read their TOS. my host is canadian. mjmwebtech.com, just a local business... little expensive but i can personalize issues which is why im not branching out. another problem i might have is that all of my domains i own are under his name. not mine,(just cpanel account) i saved all my receipts and he said its not an issue if i want to sell them eventually. i have access to change the name servers.

he says hes not a reseller, but who knows. and at this stage in the game im going to stay with him until i understand this whole website/domain thing.

back on topic, i bought the .net extension as well about 15 mins ago. i plan on parking my other 2 adult domains and my 17 other sites with sedo, and lightly develop the .com and .net of sexmyx. I also dont plan on jumping on the first offer even if its tastey. Honestly, if i can put google ads on them i might just sit on them and play with my other sites i have

Thank you very much for your posts. very informative. 1+ for taking the time to help me. i never even noticed it was only 1 person. thanks = )

i just read the TOS and the second line down was

    "Pornography, adult, or mature content"

In the URL itself it has the word "SEX". also, the photos i will be displaying will be sexually suggestive. Half naked attractive guys and girls in shorts and bikini's covering their vitals.

are you sure i can host google ads on this site? I wont base my decision on your opinion. I might create the site and then poke google CS about it first.

this is just a double check = )

you could base the site around sexuality, which could cover straight, gay, bi etc etc, but not actually have porn ;-)
gotta think outside the square buddy =)
