I want to know what color the grey blips are

I totally understand the purpose of gray reps, no problem at all. What I want is to know what the intent of the rep was (i.e. positive or negative). Mostly they're obvious but just today I got a non-signed gray for an old post where I'm not 100% certain.

Seems like such an easy fix to just include "positive" or "negative" or similar in the alt text of the gray blip.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Sometimes you do wonder if it was a good rep or a bad rep.. It's not really that big of a deal for me, but that extra featue would be a nice addition.

only way you can tell is if the comment says "wow your so right" or is ""%&&"%" %$&"N "%$&" the latter you can take as neg rep :)

I think general chats rep are usually always grey, unless you get a senior member green repping you, then you'll get a point or two in the green.

I think you are using the term "senior member" incorrectly...

I consider myself to be a senior member, since I've been a member since late 2005, but if I green rep someone in GC it is gray, I think, because my rep is not very high yet.

You mean to say a member with a high rep count, not always senior, just someone who happens to have alot of rep for whatever reason.

    PS

No offense but just to let you know your blog title on your post's is streching my screen out. Anyone else see this mutation of the page.. LOL

Though, grey are sometimes good when new members just don't like you give you red reps....as this has been with me few times.

Reps are now-a-days seem like a fun for new people who get it by repping other senior members. It isn't like a reputation now, its pretty useless.

Grey reps are funny when they get signed like "rep me back ~ <signed>"

That's been done, several times. Another time would not bother him all that much...it's just a matter of him caring enough to make it so. As it stands, the rep system has already been modded, so *shrug*

No, modded as in modified, as in there is a modification/add-on/plug-in for the rep system here already.

Stock vB does not cost to give negative rep, and does not have the option to make rep not count in places like politics.
