Who cares what Apple, Dell or anyone else pays in India? That is completely irrelevant to your offer and pay scale. You posted a number of rules and requirements and expect people to jump through hoops for your outfit. Why should we even dialogue w/you over your ridiculous offer?

Granted, some people will jump at the chance to write for less than a penny a word. God bless them. I hope they get paid since the track record for sweat shop employers is not very good.

Since you believe it is an acceptable rate in certain parts of the world, maybe you should restrict your recruiting to those parts of the world. Why insult people with such gibberish? Maybe someone should send you an article on manners and etiquette.

    Good luck in your endeavors.:)

Ok, well the fact is that if someone who isn't in a developing economy, and wants to write for us, they can. I do understand that many US writers have mortgages to pay, they have to put food on the table, and feed children etc. This wage isn't going to go a long way to do that. That I do understand. The global economy does cause some problems for freelancers and programmers. However, I don't see UK marketing agencies lowering there prices to try to compete. You guys don't have to either. However, if you really are professionals with decent portfolio, getting freelance gigs at min $300 day rates won't be a problem for you. Just be pro-active, send your off your portfolio and CV, and watch the offers flow in. This could be one of the best pieces of advice that you get. Seriously.

The problem is that most decent deal-flow for marketing and programming jobs doesn't come from online. It comes from established relationships, search consultants and references. That's why there's so many angry writers in this forum! I'm sorry I can't offer a higher wage to you guys. Really, I am. But there is [some] people who can write just as well as you, for cheaper, and be HAPPY with that wage. It's sad, but it's true. Use your hatred for me to motivate yourself guys. Good luck.

Any talented writer can easily get paid much more than you are offering by doing freelance work online. The writers who cannot are the poor ones from non-English countries who speak broken English and cannot write well. They sell poor quality writing services for low pay, because the low pay is still a good wage in their country. If they were quality writers, they would still only sell their services for higher pay. Nobody is going to work for less than a cent per word when they can easily do the same work for much more.

Yes sure, they can get a higher rate per word/ or per hour. But, no real volume. So really, according to what your saying there's no point in anyone working within their country (if it's a developing country) if they can write well. Why not come online and compete for the scraps -- the articles here and there? However, all that's going to do is up the supply and then prices are going to plummet even further. And guess what that means Mr Hughes? EVEN LOWER PRICES FOR YOU!

I'm offering a job, not a freelance gig. Have a look into those comma splices! Oh, and do keep in mind your hijacking this thread.

When have I used a comma splice?

A talented writer can find a long-term writing gig that pays much more than yours.

Writing prices have not plummeted. Poor quality writing from non-English countries does not affect the price of professional copywriting.

You spelled your own doom, OP, when you offered this foolish rate. A penny a word and no one would have said anything, most likely. But your offering half a fricken cent a word. Do you realize how long these kids are going to have to work to earn a Big Mac?

I'm not you absolute moron. You see you don't realise your opening up a whole can of worms. When I have a problem with my broadband connection I have to phone someone in India. That's because it's cheaper. Clothing manufacturer isn't moved to Asia for the nice weather either. Unless there's a unique value proposition based on doing things in the west then there's no point. For example, when I first signed up for broadband I spoke with a UK based salesman. Obviously because my broadband provider felt they could deliver more sales. Probably so.

Now, in general US writers can write better than Indian writers. I would not dispute that for one second. An average $2 article from an Indian will be worse than an average $10 article from an American. That's something I accept. However, it's possible to find writers that can exceed the $10 value article because they are actually educated and talented writers. Many whom have went to University and have came out to find themselves in $200-$400 a month jobs. For them, that's great. However, we have some people earning over $1000 a month when they get in the way of churning out articles. And they can write to a better standard than you. The thing that you people don't realise, the angry americans, is that most of you guys wouldn't even get work from us if you wanted.

This conversation is going round in circles. And more circles.

That is not a comma splice, because the word 'because' is a conjunction.

Like I said, you don't know what a comma splice is.

A comma splice is when a comma is used to connect two independent clauses, which is grammatically incorrect to do. Independent clauses are supposed to be separated by a period or a semicolon. Alternatively, a conjunction can be added to make one clause dependent.

    Thanks,
    Scott

It's going around in circles for good reason -- this is borderline "sweat shop" material.

If these guys are so educated, why not pay them what they're worth? Are you that cheap?

guys i dont understand why are u all hijacking his thread ? he has the right to ask for what ever he want . if you dont like it just pass .

All of you could get an infraction by a MOD if demonpublisher report it .

leave him alone , if some ppl want to write for a 0,005 /word its their choice .

i recently had the same issue with a guy here on dp who offered his php programming for 5$/hr at first i was angry because i took it as an insult for programmers then i realised i made an error and that he's free to do what ever he want .

    just my 2 cents ...

I'll regress. I just think I have a right to vent my angers with what he's making ALL writers look like.

OP, good luck with whatever idiot you can get to write this.

Actually to settle the comma splice feud neither of you are right because their are different standards for the English language, although the MLA standard is probably the most followed form.

This is funny! And a result of WORLD wide web! We all live in different countries with different living standards and economics! Like me who is a norwegian would probably never accept to work for any of the prices that's mentioned in this forum!
And, if he can get a writer for this price - then the market tells him it's possible to buy these services at that price.

And remember - we're now on the WORLD wide web - and then we can ask for whatever we want!

At last I'll give you guys something to think about: in Norway when I go out to a pub/bar/disco I like to buy a beer! And, do you know for what price!?! Between 10$-14$...... I don't think any of you guys have to pay so much! And, think that I'm crazy to pay this price - but, that's the market in Norway...... Like it's possible to get som writers to write for a smaller amount of $$$.

This is an example of a comma splice. I will not be trying to report this thread to a MOD. I do think many are being rude, however Scott does deserve an opportunity to stick up for himself -- which he's done.
