I was wondering what you people thought was the most used payment system. I have seen a lot with Paypal but every once in awhile I find a group using E-Gold, Google Checkout, and moneybookers. What do you think is best and most used?

Without any doubt my answer is Paypal as it is widely used by people. Moneybookers and 2CO also good but still people prefer to use paypal.

Actually there is no reasons why you should not use 2CO, for one thing, everyone who has a Paypal account should have a credit card so that makes paying through 2CO or any credit card processor a breeze. Moreover, not only 2CO accepts credit cards, they also accept Paypal payments.

Not all countries are supported by Paypal but there are a lot more countries which has banks which offers credit and debit cards. So with 2CO, technically you have a much wider market place.

With Paypal, only a small handful for some 30ish to 40ish countries which can sell through it but 2CO allows almost anyone from almost all countries in the world to sell through it.

Yep. Thats why I dont have a paypal account. Egold works for me just fine. Unlike paypal, there are no country restrictions for Egold.

Paypal is the most used. Although e-gold and moneybookers are excellent alternatives for people who can't use paypal.

As a customer, I feel more comfortable with paypal as I can get some kind of recourse if the seller do not fulfill his side of the contract. With E-gold or Moneybookers, I get to lose everything and besides e-gold and moneybookers is so darn hard to use as I need to sign up for an account and find a way to load the account because I can go make one transaction, it would certainly put a lot of people off because of the complexity and no protections for customers.

I would say, the best option is still 2checkout.com as customers do not need to sign up for an account and can complete the order experience within a few minutes.

If you ask me, I would say that your best option is 2checkout. If you use Paypal, you may limit your customer based especially for business and for people who never have a paypal account for one reason or the other. However, there should be more people who have credit card accounts. Besides, 2checkout also accepts Paypal payment and does have a better fraud detection system than the standard paypal account.

I use paypal because, no choice, it's the most widely accepted payment processor around even though there are many horror stories around with accounts getting suspended for no apparent reason. I also provided e-gold payment but basically what I don't like about them is the high transaction fee + annual account fee.
