Simply having a few backlinks on some high PR websites doesn't seem to bring up your pagerank. What do I have to do to achieve a high PR? My websites are fairly new so I can't simply find a high PR website that is related to my sites to trade links with. Why would anyone want to trade links with 0 PR website when they have a high PR?
You should not pay attention to your PR but your SEPS... And yes, it is all about backlinks. Buy links/blog posts or use article directories.
You just have to convinced the webmaster of the site that their site could benefit from linking to your site even you have less PR. Their benefit could be a quality traffic from your site.
Link exchanges take a lot of time and generally suck for the ROI, in this case being time. The way to increase pagerank is by increasing backlinks. The way to get backlinks is well, there is a ton of stuff you can do. For example, create a small program such as a guestbook and give it away. Submit it to all the software directories like hotsscripts and such, they all give you a link. Anyway, theres only a bagillion threads here on this same topic.
the quality of the site doesnt only depend on PR indication... for me, i much like to exchange link to the site was on number one on ranking even it has no PR.
dont focus on your page rank too much just focus on making your keyword rank in the top ten of SERP it is much better to rank in the top ten rather than getting a high page rank.
If your only intention is to increase your pagerank, the easiest way is to SPEND MONEY on it. BUY a high PR link.
yup, i agree with the above, if you want high pr, just buy a few high pr links and spend a few money on some directory submission to get some normal pr links and you're set to go.
Hi Greg, The data in the PageRank toolbars is old and stale, usually 3-4 months out of date, and thus is not a useful indicator of how "popular" a Web page (yes, I said PAGE, not site) is. Given that your sites are fairly new, I really wouldn't worry about increasing your PageRank just yet. Instead, focus on writing content (if an informative site) or Web copy (if you're trying to sell a product or service) that other sites and people will find useful and will want to link to. Get exposure to your sites by submitting them to the appropriate relevant directories (target the ones in your niche or makret, don't flood all the directories you can) so that you can get the most "bang" for your buck (which you should keep in your bank account, if you ask me). SitePoint has a wonderful Search Engine Optimization FAQ that goes into great detail about how to promote a new site. I've quoted the relevant part below: I know, you're probably scratching your head wondering what this has to do with PageRank, the simple fact of the matter is it has a LOT to do with it. Follow the steps outlined above, and you should have no problem getting other sites to link back to yours. You'll probably also notice it says to optimize your title and META description tags - I'll go one step further and say that you should optimize it for your users - people. There's a perfect example I wrote up for NinjaNoodles last night if you want to read it. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=5399728#post5399728 In that thread, I told him to start by replacing his home page's existing TITLE and META DESCRIPTION tags, With this: Not only are the title and description optimized for the search engines, but they've also been written to compel people to WANT to click the link and use the site. Yes, this has to do with marketing (and psychology) and not SEO, but trust me when I say that writing text that will make people WANT and NEED to use your site (and get them talking about it both online and offline) will be far more beneficial than writing your pages for search engines. Afterall, would you rather have a site that just barely paid the bills, or a site that was a 24/7/365 salesman that never took a day off and did all the work for you?
The only way to build Page Rank is adding more and more back links. PR is worthless, but if your really after it, start adding back links to your site.
