Hi Guys, What would be more important things in analyzing a website statistics - Unique Visitors or Hits? Looking for some smart answers.
Unique visitors. Hits only records how many times each element of the page was loaded. For example, if you have a Web page (one file) that contains 10 images, a stylesheet, and two JavaScript files, each time the page is loaded, you would see 14 "hits" on the server. Now if the same person were to refresh the page five times, the server would record "70 hits" - even though it was just one person doing it.
Hits is a terrible metric, it doesn't really tell you anything. Say you have a page that has 50 items on it, every time the page is downloaded by one visitor, thats 50 hits. If you have a page with 1000 items then that's 1000 hits. Unique visitors is a far more accurate way of judging traffic. Very few people even understand what hits even means.
Technically that would be 51, since the Web page itself (the HTML file) would be included. Add extra "hits" for any external .css or .js files.
For me the Visits/Visitor and Pages/Visit is more important than just number of uniques. The more visits per visitor means people are returning to the site, and the more pages per visit means people liked the content or found it useful and browsed to other pages. So these are the numbers i try and improve on each month.
It's the unique visitors that is more important. More unique visitors on your site meaning you a better site exposure.
Unique visitors is more important. hits is nothing to be taking an importance of with regards to analyzing site stat.
the answer is unique visitors no doubt it is much better to see different visitor rather redundant page load
I think unique visitor as well as visitor length time also important. If you got more hit on site but not able to sustain visitor on the site, then your site may be not good.
