Anime Video Site

Please review:

Lotus Anime

Just got the site up and running this morning
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the abilities to modify the template, but I'm considering keeping the site nice and simple.

Should I go the typical anime site route and add a bunch of graphics for each series, an annoying chat, and random widgets?

Will traffic suffer from a lack of all the extras?
I want to focus on maintaining the site rather than making it look really nice and just leaving it like many sites do.

What about ad placement?

 

I think it looks nice and clean but this is not a market that I'm in. Actually I just clicked the link to see if it was something I'd consider persuing and noticed that when I clicked the "Black Lagoon" link on the left... all the videos distorted the page.

I went through the whole site and found out the distorted page was due to a faulty embed tag in one of the posts.

well, i'm not into anime, but i know the anime scene is intense and competitive. i know you are trying to keep it simple and and that you want to focus on updating and maintaining the site because you told me, in your post, but that message does not get through to those who go to your site. it looks barren and empty, the long list of anime titles on the right means that you have empty space in the middle, which just reinforces the sense of desolation and emptiness. most anime sites are busy, right... so how about telling the users up front that you want to keep it simple and that you will update often and regularly. to the top of your page, under the title, add "Updated every Week, last update Nov 25" or something like that.

 

True, there is a BUNCH of empty space.
I think I may add more textual content that is relevant, along with a few images for the most popular series.

well looking upto the theme its pretty cool.Very attractive.With me is loading slowly but may be its my fault here.

 

Hmm, it loads almost instantly for me, and I don't have the greatest connection.
Can anyone comment on loading time please?

 

It's neat, looks fine. The placement of ads, OK. Why not make a nice (anime) header?
