Somone has registered all the possible combinations of my compnay and domain name save the really tricky European ones of my principle company name.
Have been waiting for years for that!
Don't know whether to crack open a Bud, or jump on the next plane...

now if the sites are not being used for the purpose of running a business he can lay claim to them (esp if he has a trademark on the name)

He is probably happy because if someone is doing that to his business name it must be more noticeable than it was before.

Better stop them before the business starts becoming less noticeable...

I would not be happy if someone did the same to me becasue I would have to cough up some considerable expense in terms of lawyers fees to defend myself.

Valley, you do realise that if you want to challenge each domain registration YOU have to pay the WIPO fees which starts at $2500 per WIP panel PER DOMAIN.

This other person has just caused you considerable financial inconvenience especially if you want to challenge them.

This is why if you are a proper business, you go out and regsiter as many variations of your comapnys domain as you can afford.

    Yeah I know.
We don't tend to trade from the offical name. We have dozens and dozens of domains.
It is a German guy, who actually tried to do business with us.
Whilst I am obviously not happy at the situation, it will not damage business in any way, shape or form.
It is nice for the company be thought well enough to actually register the domains, but I would not pay one penny above registration fee for them, nor would I pay for any WIPO.
An opportunity always presents itself to sort things out.
So in the meantime it is just amusing for me, as I stand back and watch.
It is impossibly expensive to purchase every domain combination ending and trademark them, unless the company is blue chip really.

    Opportunity!

I have tracked down the competitors company name and just registered their domain names, including the .com

Those who live by the sword normally fall by the sword I guess....

Maybe we could do a swop after I have sold a few cars in their home town....
Maybe if I sell enough I can buy his house?

    I was sued
    Wasn't funny.
Frightened the hell out of me.
Their lawyer was £750 UK an hour.
Ironically the company who started the suing is going bust. That is funny.
