Best social network software?

    Hey!

In your opinion what do you think the best social networking software (similar to myspace/facebook/bebo) is?
I have heard phpfox is very good but I'm quite new to this type software so your comments about any of any php scripts out there are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andy

phpfox is good, but i have been leaning more toward social engine (socialengine.net). I've already bought a couple of copies for various sites I am putting up this year =) Works quite well too ;-)

Before investing a ton of labor, I'd like to test the waters with a social network product that offers the fastest and easiest implementation.

Have begun reviewing and would appreciate any input.

C4RZ dot com is one of the Social Engine sites so far. Working on some mods to it as we speak though.

I am trying out Boonex Dolphin, It's originally free - but there's a lot of paid catches that are now annoying the crap out of me.

I set up boonex dolphin this morning, first all the files permissions I changed weren't right even though it said they was so i had to 777 everything to make it work, then I had problems with the crons working, then i finally finished the install and got a fatal error in the script.

I know its free and I shouldn't complain but I would rather pay $300 and get something that works right away.

Yeah I hear you xd2, I have had issues with running cron also, did you get the cron running ? if so do you want to help me with mine LoL, mine's running but the music, videos and other buttons are useless unless you fork out $40 - $50 per add on and then you have to pay $40 a month to use the help forum (that's BS), and did you get the orca forum working ? mine wont work for some reason.

I think the whole thing is flakey as hell, I read somewhere that boonex do it on purpose to get people to subscribe to the premium support.

Which would make sense cause the script is so crap they couldn't charge for it so rather then fix it or make it better they found a loop hole to make some money.

In my honest opinion, you get what you pay for, in this case you don't pay and you get F*** all. :)

PHPFox looks good, works very well, is easy to mod and 1.6 looks even better you can check out the rc3 release of it on there site. I will be buying my licence just as soon as I find a paypal alternative . . . again.

thsaadmin, my msn addy is in my profile add me and I will see if I can help with cron or anything :)

so in terms of a script you will have to invest a bob or 2 in.. which would you all recommend? I think I am staying away from free stuff for a while.

Thats weird that they don't have any pricing or a trail download or a demo or anything.
