Review: myHellas4U.com

Not all parts are finished yet but the basic design is in place
and I figured its time to get some honest opinion on the design of http://www.myHellas4U.com

site is about Travelling to Greece
(Hellas = Greece)

the parts that are working are the hotels the tours and the transfers

any comment good or bad would be appreciated

 

Following comments are NEGATIVE( ):

1) The boxes(content boxes) are not looking very well, my eyes doesn't like it.
2) The Menu is very difficult to see.
3) The background image + the content boxes = NO GO !

 

I hoped you could give some detailed constructive criticism

Well. It is difficult to see the menu because of the background image. If you could add a seperate background to the menu (like when you have your mouse over the link) then it would be MUCH better.

I had an opportunity to review your site design, layout and navigation.

My Thoughts

Logo
This was my first concern.... I really think that you need a very professional looking logo. Especially for the market you are trying for.... They will most likely determine a businesses credibility and professionalism.. by their website.

My Suggestions:

• Check out the Contest Section of DP
• Check out the Design Section of DP
• You could also check with Spiritof1970 whom I have hired and have been very satisfied

I would also suggest revising your slogan, 'Authentic Greece', and change it to, 'Holiday in Authentic Greece'.

Navigation
As you had mentioned... I realize all your links are not working. From the top links... I found only Hotels, Cruises and transfers was working.

As mentioned previously, I would recommend that you redesign your top navigation so that people are aware that they are there. Right now... it is hard to notice them... I would even suggest placing them as white buttons... with 60% transparency.... that way you could still see the background of the beautiful picture yet know there is buttons there...

I think the images on the left could be used for items that are local to Greece

• Hotels
• Car Rentals
• Charters

Lastly for navigation, I would suggest that you have the following buttons, Home, About and Contact, available up on the top menu.

Home Page
I think the home page could use a recommendation of the month.... this would do two things... one it would encourage local businesses to work with you... and two... it will inform people right away... that you are sharing a little of what they can do in Greece.

Conclusion
Over all... it is a site with excellent potential. I just think it needs to be re-worked a bit.

This review was done with 3 browsers (FireFox 2.0.0.9, Internet Explorer 6.02 & Opera 9.24) on Windows XP SP2.

Your site looks good but it will be better if you improve your header. Just my suggestion.

One thing I did forget to mention. When browsing the site with a screen view of 800X600.... I have a very hard time looking at your site... but it was ok... when I resized my screen...

I know it is a concious decision to have it at width of 1000px in order to fit the contnet to the right side, but thanks for mentioning.

you should decide to use only one language. I see some greeks and some english both on index. Why not have an english version and one greek version?
