Will links for 40 sites on the same server help me?

I have a site I am currently doing SEO with. I have 40 proxy sites ranging from PR 1 to PR 3 where I can link to the site, but the problem is the proxies and the site I am SEOing are all on the same server.

Would this hurt me, have no effect, or help me? Assume anchor text would be different for each link and the site I am optimizing isn't proxy related.

I don't see any problem with that... I don't think server is considered in SEO...

My concern is that since they are all on the same server, all the sites are also on the same IP. I can get a different IP for the site I'm going to SEO, but it will still be on the same class C.

Hard to say but I'm guessing it won't hurt you.

I don't think it will be a problem. There server that a site is hosted on is not taken into consideration. If it was sites on web hosts would be adversely affected by penalties applied to other sites on the same server.
